MY NEW RIDE (TRUCK)....
« on: May 26, 2006, 01:27:03 PM »
Traded in the old Excursion for a new 2006 Ford F-150 SuperCrew 4x4.

As most of you know, I work in the sales dept. of a Freightliner/Sterling/Western Star dealreship, http://www.nwfordtrucks.com and we also own a Ford truck store as well. I was able to get on the employee "d" plan, which got me some major money off this truck.

Long story short, the new truck had a MSRP of $47,000 and change, and ended up getting more than $12,000 off of that, with the d plan and current offered rebates. So with my trade (which was a 2002 with under 35,000 miles)

I'll just say I am not paying that much for this truck that stickered at almost $50k....

I take it your new truck is petrol in light of your previously stated concerns regarding low sulphur diesel ?
Sounds like a good deal to me, we get shafted on the price of those trucks here in NZ

Yup, I can run this thing on the lowest grade gas available (87 octane), and thats what I plan on doing. Now my truck, car, and motorcycle all take the cheapest fuel  ;D I have heard & been told enough about the EPA07 changes with Diesel to switch back to a gas powered daily driver.

Here's a pic of the new ride (sorry it took so long)
Just a quick one taken at work (see the Freightliner M2 Tandem parked next to me ?)  ;D
No major plans, just small things like tinting the windows, roll & lock rear cover for the bed, some Line-X spray bedliner, and other
little things...

That is a sweet truck, even though its a Found On Road Dead ;D ;D ;D

One question for you though, Is it just me or is that bed a bit on the short side? Looks awful tiny to me. No offense intended of course.

Nice deal!  I work at a Ford/Sterling Truck dealer too and they gave me $5000 off on my 2006 Focus.  I'm saving $20/week on gas compared to my old pos volvo.

Thanks for all the kind words on the truck..

The bed is on the short side, coming in at just under 6f eet. I opted to have more interior room, and less bed then the other way
around. Allready put 200 miles on the new ride in less than 72 hours. I am really diggin the truck, and once I get some "parts" I ordered for it, it will really be Pimpin  ;D

I think you can get some sort of metal tubing/cage thing that connects to the back of the bed and bows out past the rear bumper a bit-  That way, with your tailgate down (or temporarily removed) you can get like 1' more length in the bed,  enough for a motorcycle I would bet.  It looks cool too.

Ya, I have seen those things. I have NEVER owned a pick-em-up-truck, so this is all new to me.
It will be nice to haul my CB around when and If I want to, without borrowing a trailer, and getting other people
to help me out. I am actually considering some airbag suspension kits for the rear, to allow easier loading/unloading
of the bike. The one kit I am looking at will lower the rear of the truck almost 6 inches...

All in due time...

Looks better than my 1995, for sure, and I bet there are no scratches in the bed yet, right?
peace,

Believe me guys, I am a Chevy fan thru and thru, when it comes to cars.
In my eye, Ford just makes a better truck for the $$$, plus I got a killer discount on this thing  ;D
