Topic: cb400f cam chain/tensioner and a few other questions

i found a few sites that have the DID chains listed but 219FTS(S) DHA comes in what appears to be different lenghts, which one should i get? is the ttr400 cam chain tensioner worth it, or should i just replace the stock parts?

for a throttle replacement, does any push/pull throttle work? theres a couple motion pro ones i've been looking at.

i want a real short small muffler to put on the stock headers, what're you guys running?

with pod filters and a less restrictive exhaust what main jets should i order? thanks a lot!


edit, decided against pod filters after further reading up on them. so, how much to upjet for aftermarket exhaust? thanks again

Are you looking for one with a softlink?  It'available from honda for about $75, but its an endless chain and you have to split the cases to install it.

The throttle cables have to be the right length to work--again available from Honda for about $25 each.

yes definitely one with a soft link! also i'm not talking about the cables, just the throttle assembly. i hate the stock one, and want to ditch the switches on the bars.

If your cam chain tensioner is damaged and stuck, and you can't unstick the pivot... get a TTR one since the OEM one has been unobtainable for a decade or two. Otherwise just keep the stock one, it will last pretty much forever with a properly tensioned chain. Definitely get new guide and slipper blades and the little rubber block things they push into.
If it is stuck you're going to be splitting the main cases so why not use an endless camchain? With all that effort already expended, removing the crank to slip the chain over isn't much more of a task.

You can use any push pull made for 7/8 bars. 

If you're looking to use a softlink, just buy a long chain and cut it to length. You need a riviter for the 219 chain to install the softlink and most come with a splitter too.  Your other option is to buy a honda chain and replace one link with a softlink.
