Is this guy nuts? Or is this the going rate on a bike like this? Killer look as far as I am concerned.

Based of the description is a replica to the "T" in like new condition so it all depends if your linked to something like that in one way or another.. Maybe your first race was watching that machine win, your dads dream bike or you just look at it and realize that its the most beautifull thing around. Heck maybe you see it as a investment.

Look at all the choppers and hot rods selling for crazy bank. I would pay 20k for that before I would ever pay 20k or more for a OCC bike.

It all comes down to your taste, desire to buy or build and what you bank account is setting at.

Actually the OCC bikes start at $30k on a base model. You're waving the "anti-OCC" flag at the wrong guy.

I wasn't waving a flag, I was really curoius about the OCC bike price. I knew somebody here would know

. I don't particularly like or hate OCC, but I'd rather spend that kind of cash on 2 of that bike on ebay.

OK sorry just so many people wave that flag. This doe snot mean I like all of thier bikes. Some are nice, some are just not my taste.
But they do start out at $30K and run up from there.

I'm wondering if you can't just build one yourself for less than 15K. Most of the parts I can see are available new.This one was built in 2001 and raced twice before sitting for four years. Can't say that I'd pay what they're asking if I could build one myself for less.

$15K is probably not a bad price for a complete bike. Mark will build you an engine for around $10K.

Considering that it is identical to a multi-race winning machine, I rather think this isn't a show piece, rather a proven style workhorse ready to go to work at the local track and depending on the rider, put a few trophies on the mantle. I don't see this so much as a replica as a proven design. What they achieved in one bike, they re-cereated in another bike that is being offered for a racer to own.

Well it's very nice, but if you've got the skills, the time and the patience, you'll do it for a lot less than 15K, but of course most guys don't, so it's probably worth it. Cheers, Terry.

Let's not get carried away on this one guys, this is coming from a person that has been there, done it and got the T shirt.

The bike for sale cost a lot to build and is a CR look a like, not a replica.

Several components are on the market, replicated from genuine CR stock.

To name just a few to give you an idea how far out you are at $15,000-00, the gearbox, rear brake hub and fuel and oil tanks will set you back $7,500. US.

That's half way to your $15,000 and you only have 4 components.

OK, nobody can see what gearbox is in the motor, but if it's not a replica part, then the bike isn't a replica.

I think the CR body components alonbe are about $2K.

Mark Mcgrew is one of only a few people on the planet that can deliver a bike like this. I don't even have to look at the Egay thing, I personally know his work, he helped me on many projects and sold me my firt 67mm kit. Vic may try to claim the title but Mark is !!!! MR CR750 !!!!

He builds bikes that would literally Kik the #$%* out of anything that Old Man Honda himself could have mustered into battle in 1970.
It says it's a 2001 model so the Popster may not have won Daytona on it but He may well have won a couple events on that very bike? (sorry, I've been outta touch for several years, check the M3 RACING wesite for history, they do win a lot)

They never do sell for what you have in them as far as labor and parts. I think Carpy will tell ya that. I would imagine because this is very true for cars it would be true for bikes.

When I was in Highschool you could by a 70 Chevelle (STOCK) for about $1500-$500 depending on what condition you wanted. I paid $200 for my 71 Buick GS with the big block! Dump $12,000 into it with a trick motor and all the goodies. Go to sell it and be lucky of you got $6,000 for it. More than likely you would have gotten $4,000.

Maybe this why I always built my hotrods in highschool out of several junkers.

Got the guy at the junk yard drunk and that baby was ours.

This motor was the town bicycle. It ended up in about 12 different vehicles in 3 years. Funny how it kept killing anything we put it in. Just about everyone of the cars was twisted to the point that we could not put a windshield back in it

. It even did some duty in my Jimmy that had a LT1 Camaro body on it with 33 inch tires. Again stupid funny.

Hey Chung, I'm with you on that, M3 build some serious competitive race bikes, I've read some write ups on the bikes and their race record and it's pretty impressive. And yeah, Bud's about, he got the Seeley out of state & stored up in time too, he's not on here often but still posts on the mailing list from time to time.
