Let's not get carried away on this one guys, this is coming from a person that has been there, done it and got the T shirt.
The bike for sale cost a lot to build and is a CR look a like, not a replica.
Several components are on the market, replicated from genuine CR stock.
To name just a few to give you an idea how far out you are at $15,000-00, the gearbox, rear brake hub and fuel and oil tanks will set you back $7,500. US.
That's half way to your $15,000 and you only have 4 components.
OK, nobody can see what gearbox is in the motor, but if it's not a replica part, then the bike isn't a replica.
Sam (CR750) lookalike.
Hey Sammy, not wanting to piss on your parade, but according to the on line thesauras, there is no difference between the two:
http://thesaurus.reference.com/search?q=replicaMain Entry: replica
Part of Speech: noun
Definition: duplicate
Synonyms: ape, carbon, carbon copy, clone, copy, ditto*, dupe*, facsimile, flimsy*, imitation, likeness, look-alike, mimeo, mimic, miniature, model, reduplication, repeat, replication, repro, reproduction, stat, workalike, xerox
Antonyms: genuine article, original
So............ if your bike doesn't contain exactly the same componentry as the original CR750, (albeit constructed at home from genuine parts and not in the factory) does that just make it a CR750 "wannabe"? Cheers, Terry.
