It appeasr that we may become a multi bike household so to speak. Looking at a Goldwing, and keeping the 750 plus a bike for her.

250 Rebel, low seat and they make good noise. Popular bike, check condition before paying too much.

Semi-famous motorcycle riding wife Patti Carpenter of Road Rider magazine used to ride a Honda CB550 Four during the 1970s which looked perfect for her. It sits nearly 2 inches shorter than CB750.
1969 Honda CB750, two 1970 CB750, two 1972 CB750K2, 1971 CB500, 1975 CB550, 1976 CB400F, 1968 CL450, 1973 CL450, 1974 CB450, 1970 1/2 SL350K1, 1971 SL350K1, 1972 SL350K2, 1972 CL350, 1972 CB350, 1983 CB1000C, 1976 Kawasaki KZ900A4, 1976 KH500A8, 1979 KZ400B, 1983 ZN1300, and so on and so on...

I guess this would be an ok bike. To me they always seemed to "Mo-peddy" But it is a user friendly bike. As well as the Suzuki GN's (also "mo-peddy". I like the Suzi shift indicator thing. It would keep her from over shifting, something I do all the damn time.

Now here is the shyte.. I have a buddy that sells mopeds. Not the little crap, nice big ones. He is a kind of bulky guy and he can hit 55 on it after a few mods. I dont know if she is really up to a full blown bike. She is sort of a chicken.  I figure I will get her signed up in the instruction course and see just what she thinks when she is done. I was considering putting her in the same class as our daughter, but you see my daughter seems to do things better than nmost people. I think this would strain mom.

I was teaching my wife to ride the CB125s ....until someone with a
problem used a sledge hammer on it.
Now that I have a nice llooking/running cb550 she has been eyeballing that
and hinting maybe I shouldn't sell myb 1975 cb750.

I think the cb550 is too much for her to really start learning on though.

Holy cow- are you still talking about this? Eventually every brand and model will come up and then where will you be? Take her shopping. New, I'm thinkng Nighthawk250 or kawi 125 Eliminator. Take het to see used bikes.  Check out that Parilla scooter and a new Vespa or Stella.  Let HER decide.  If she gets all whiney and frustrated- she's not really ready. Or she needs a snack.

I'm just jealous that you guys have wives/GFs that are interested in bikes. Mine just looks at it as a very dangerous toy. I asked her the other day "Aren't you the least bit interested in taking a long ride on a bike?" She said, "I'm not scared of motorcycles, I'm scared of asphalt." She's funny, I guess I'll keep her around a while. ;D That and the fact that she's pregnant with my third. One of these days I'll figure out what causes that!  ::)

A bike for the wife ??!!  You damn straight on this one!!  As long as the bike you're trading me doesn't have a mouth and isn't a #$%*, I'll ship her out on the next plane and come ride the bike home.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Depends how much power she wants. The 350 Four is a good physical size.
I am also vertically challenged and am riding the CX 500 Custom while we finish the 350.

If she's a beginner, I'd definately make her stay away from CB550 until she gets experience. Patti Carpenter of Road Rider magazine was an experienced rider. Learning on CB125 is smart thinking. Maybe she can upstage to Honda CB250 Nighthawk, CM250 Rebel or even EX250 Ninja when she's ready.

CB350 is great for running around the town but due to low alternator output, you can't keep the headlight on too long or it'll ran out of juice. It's a design flaw but back then Honda never expected people to keep the headlights on during daytime. Blame that on safety laws. Honda CB350 also vibrates too much for comfortable highway riding, even when brand new, despite what Honda brochure claims. But I love CB350s, I have two now, plus a CL350 and three SL350s.

Have you considered a Honda gb500?    My girlfriend is probably smaller than you wife and she rode on it with no problems. Plus, since she likes the look of your bike............
We didn't get it in the end cause they're kind off rare here and expensive too, but in the US they're more common I think.

In some parts of the world, esp Japan and Australia, there were 250 and 400cc models as well. I think they were maroon with the Honda wing on the tank. Here in the 'States, they were actually a green so deep that everyone thinks they are black.  Only '89 and '90 for the Americans.  They couldn't give them away and now they are climbing fast, price-wise.  Several people are putting 600 or 650 singles in there, but they are really nice stock- if you're not too big. They are much smaller than they look in a picture.
