Topic: another craigslist find

picked up a 1979 cm400t with title for $100.00 it has been sitting for about 4 years the lady said i got it home it was filthy with dirt road dust the chrome and engine is amazingly clean the tank is shot carbs where actually clean ran some fuel through it and it fired up so now my son has him a sweet little project.i just don't know what his mother is going to say yet shes not to hip on bikes since my wreck.

i bought it to turn a little profit but my son took a liking to it. he's been on some twin forums getting some ideas this weekend he starts stripping it down for a real good cleaning. i guess they can get real good mpg.for what i paid for it and it runs too it will be a good commuter for back and forth to work.

The CM400 was the first project my son and I tackled together. Did the 80 CM400E and the 81 CM400C. Both excellent runners, but one needed valve guides. Fun bikes to ride too. Good luck with it.

Great find. I had great luck with mine. I rode it for about three years, never a problem and got what I originally paid for it back when I sold it last year. Didn't cost a thing to own it and only had to pay for gas to ride it.

Very easy bikes to work on too. Only problem I had is they were a bit small in the leg department. After about an hour or so I felt a little cramped on it. I could have taken care of that with highway pegs, but wanted to keep it stock. Sold them both and did well. The carbs are easy to clean and you can leave them on the bike too.
