This is a cool project. I like how you're making all the "specialty" tools you need yourself. Very inspirational.

Havent done too much in the last two weeks just a seat pan and redid the rear loop. Got my gasket set and rings from Japan. I didn't like the way the stock rear shock mounts and bridge piece looked and the bridge was welded on about 3/16" off from one side to the other. Off they went. Fiberglassed the plywood seat pan using Locktite Extra Time epoxy in 4oz bottles from menards. The ertra time part was not a lie! took about 2 weeks to not be surface tacky. I need to strike up some guts and start on the motor.

Yea I lucked out on the fit just had to trim the posts and new rear mount.

Got a few more things in order, motor parts sandblasted and cleaned for evaluation, new rear cowl built and loop welded on and got a set of rear shocks from member toytuff Thanks

Eventually you will take it all apart and paint the frame.
Before you put the forks and swing arm, on just lower the frame over the engine while the engine is laying on its side on a blanket. Much easier.

Did my tax's today and 1st lawn mow then a little work on the 500. bought and modifyed a DOT trailer light for stud mounting in the rear arch at the seat back. I also welded in mounting bracket for the seat back.

I made up some shock mount gussets and welded them in and the rear frame bridge. Tail light is just mocked in to its intended position.

Started cleaning up the valve seats. Borrowed this kit from a friend,bought the correct stem insert for the valves . Cost $22 = shipping if I had bought the one cutter total would have been $87 = shipping.

Got my exhaust valves,spoke set and fork seals from David Silver Spares ordered Monday at noon stuff was at the door step Thur morning! just their reg shipping.

Started to put the new ehaust valves in when I noticed a difference in the areas where the valve springs seat. The first 2 looked like steel the rest alum. !!
did what i should have in the first place looked at manual the washers must have stuck to head when I removed the springs. I presure washed them off at the car wash. Ordered some from David Silver spares was quicker than local Honda shop.

Goldarrow no the tool was to cut the rust pits out of the seats. It is a first on motorcycle eng work for me.

Met member dergs713 last nite had a good time talking to him and his friend Karl ,had a few beers and got a nice set of pipes for my bike from him. Hopefully the old guy didn't bore them too bad. Saw some cool pictures of their bikes and bicycles too.

i'm in the middle of removing my valves. did you also remove the valve guide? or was it necessory? soda blast the head with the valve guides in?

i like the black 4 to 1 pipes

I did not remove the guides stems seem a good fit But I really do not know what the heck I'm doing so take that into account. I taped the head off really good then sand blasted it then a really good soap and water wash then air hosed out the passages.

Got my seat blank padded and ready for covering , also welded on tabs for turn signals and got them sorted out along with the tail light.

Did a few things since I last posted: Honed the jugs and painted them,tore apart the fork put new seals boots and blasted and painted the upper tubes and maid a headlight mount from 5/16 rod.

Too much work around the house and vacation to get much on the bike done. I did tear into master cyl needed a rebuild kit and a lever david Silver Spares for a new one just as cheap! rebuilt caliper and made some front turn signals out of 2 1" washers and the cut off stock turn signal stems and some trailer LED marker Lamps.

Toxic it might look cool sliced off at the same angle as the seat bridge right at tha Bridge but I added the hoop and will be keeping it good idea though thanks

You need to check the valve wobble in the guide. If you cut the seats with old worn out valve guides they will not be concentric.

The valve seat cutting tool must fit the valve guide .
