Pronto and Angeldeville we need you two guys to coordinate a handoff date that will work for both of you.  Time is growing shorter and shorter......

When we meet, just have a sit on my cafe seat  ;)
You aren't the guy with the cafe seat made from diamond-plate aluminum, are you??!! Hey, 2 or three layers of carpet padding and some duct tape can make a decent temporary seat cushion! ;D

Haha, no.  Just very shaved down and I'm sure the foam is now petrified.  Fairly rock hard.
I do have a gel horse saddle cover that actually contours to the seat pretty well.  I bought it for a long trip that never happened.  Had it for a few years and never used it.  I think that will really help.

Just checking in.  I am a go for the AZ to ABQ portion of the relay.  Just need to get down to NM where my bike is sitting and get it ready to go!  I will heading down in a couple of days and will be ready for the meet on 3/31.

Angeldevelle,  I can go all the way into ABQ if necessary.  Would prefer a meet like in Los Lunas to avoid the traffic!!!

AZ riders, are you camping or motelling the evening of 3/31?

haven't checked on cheap motels, we'll probably bring a tent and make that decision there.

it is kind of sounding like wife and I might be the only ones headed East out of Phx?  (at least all the way to meet you, Proto)

can you tell i hate planning?   ;D  I am more of the type to jump on a bike and see where I end up.

Hi, Proto!  Great, to have you "all aboard."  I have had success pming, angeldeville, which you probably should try so you two guys can set up your handoff place and date sooner rather than later.  Once you two guys get an agreement, I can workout a handoff date between myself and Angeldeville.  Angeldeville has already agreed to meet me in Santa Rosa, NM for his handoff to me.  Proto, please post on the team west link, any info you may get if you are successful contacting angeldeville.

And please keep in mind that if you ride with me, I might ride slower than you like... On such a long trip, I don't intend to push the little 350f much more than 65mph, for the most part.  It may also have a bit of oomphless syndrome on the big mountain hills.

OK, I'm getting interested!  I tend to be a planner however in order to focus on the ride, rather then wondering were I'm going to be staying for the night.  I will not be on a SOHC so I can't take the GZ.

Heffay - no problem with the speed.  Sounds like the plan is to meet Proto on the way, or in Reserve.  I assume you would be spending the night, either camping or at a motel in Reserve, is that correct?

Sscardefield, Luap & Shenanigans - are you folks also planing on heading out with Heffay on Sat. morning and going some distance east, possibly all the way to Reserve?

Angeldeville, Gregimotis & Proto - have you made arrangements for a meetup on Sunday (4/1)?  If the intent is to avoid interstates, if possible, any thought to staying south of Alba and meeting up at some site off I-25 (say I-25 & 60 junction) and then wrapping around Alba to the south, like Mountainair or Vaughn on the way to Santa Rosa?  Could Gregimotis come south with you to I-25/60 (http://g.co/maps/g2q93)?

It would be about 130 miles from Reserve to I-25/60 junction, so 3 hours.  Depending on departure time from Reserve that would be like 10 AM - noon at the junction.  About 170 miles to Santa Rosa from the junction, so 4 hours.  That would put you into Santa Rosa at say 4-6 PM.  Thing is that would be like a 120 miles for Gregimotis to meetup at I-25/60.

Also I think there was another NM rider that I'm missing.

Just pm'd angeldeville.  Will let you know when he replies.

I am all for a meet south of the big city!  Either at the I-25/US 60 interchange at Socorro or where 60 breaks off to the east 25 miles north of there.

I will be off the "net" for the next several days travelling down to NM and then to TX for a couple of days.  Will check back in when I get back to NM.

Welcome RS!! I PMed those guys last night asking them to check in here.
So far I'm the only one committed to ride to Joshua Tree, CA, and back to AZ.
Hey, I see you also have a '69 750? I assume it's a garage queen, and is too valuable to get ridden. ;)

If he does ride the Dream, maybe we could make an exception and let him carry GZ??

Too bad... :( Actually, on the 25th, I will be riding to 29 Palms/Joshua Tree to pick up GZ, and bring him back to AZ on the 26th. I still need someone to meet me at Carefree hwy and I-17 the afternoon of the 26th to deliver GZ to heffay in mesa. Can you help?

Now that I can do. Luap should be able to make that ride with me as well. Just keep me posted as we get closer on about what time you want to meet. I'll msg you and heffay my contact info right now. Heffay you going to be around on the afternoon of the 26th? Or would you like me to bring him out to you later in the week?

What the heck are you doing up so late?!  Early?!?

Elnino, sscarde, thanks for checking in. Remember, the distance you carry GZ is not so important as the fact that you carry him at all! Thanks for your help!
SS, have you heard from luap? Is he still planning on riding towards NM?

No, he won't be making the trip to NN either. But he'll probably tag along with me up to meet you on the 26th.
