Any suggestions for a spot near APE?
Honestly, I don't know. When I used to live in Apple Valley, the Antelope Valley area was close to home, so I never even considered camping there. I do recall some small juniper groves right off 138, between I-5 and I-14...

Just put on the comfy saddle and the fairing, just about ready to roll!

So much to do, so little time.

I rigged up a small back-pack for a tank-bag.
I stuffed a piece of 3" thick foam into the top compartment, and packed
the main compartment with rags for a road test. I can comfortably lay on
it; sort of the cafe racer version of a sissy-bar with a sleeping bag on a chopper. ;)

I'm willing to camp in JT. I didn't get a chance to camp there on my last trip so it's definitely a must for me.

Not sure what the schedule looks like for Sunday. If we are spending half the day at A.P.E. and riding the track at Willow Springs before the handoff at JT then I'm down w/ camping w/ y'all. If the hand-off is mid-day then I suppose I'll start making my way back home afterward.
So much to do, so little time.

Pat should be joining the discussion soon. BTW, I probably won't be getting to JT
until 5:00 PM Sunday...

Hello Everyone,

Meeting up Sunday at APE is fine with me.  I'll be the one doing the tour (Jay can't make it Sunday) and any time on the Willow Springs track will just be a parade lap so you don't need to allow a large amount of time for that.

Cheers,
Pat at APE

I stayed here last year, and will again if I can make it. Right off the highway and minutes from APE. Small coffee shop next door.

As we get closer and closer what is Northern CA contingency planning as far as time to meet in Palmdale/Lancaster and place on 3/25?  I know where Scondon will be (met him there last year), I know where APE is so we can meet there too, and I am at the Hampton in Lancaster.  Let me know time and place and I will be ready to go. 8)

Proto is back from TX and just PMd me... we're gonna meet up somewhere near the junction of 78 and 191, then Elizabeth and I (maybe after riding a bit with Proto) will make our way back to Safford for the night.  We just like the idea of not reserving a room anywhere and that part of Eastern NM doesn't allow for that, so we'll make our way back into AZ a bit to Safford to spend the night.

Once we get to the meet point with Proto, I may make some calls into the 2 Reserve, NM motels to see if they have availability.  If so, we may decide to ride up that way too.  I just hate planning, and right now we need to save our money on reserving a motel room, just in case we don't make it all the way up there.  We're pretty strapped for cash, at the moment.

Too bad... :( Actually, on the 25th, I will be riding to 29 Palms/Joshua Tree to pick up GZ, and bring him back to AZ on the 26th. I still need someone to meet me at Carefree hwy and I-17 the afternoon of the 26th to deliver GZ to heffay in mesa. Can you help?

Now that I can do. Luap should be able to make that ride with me as well. Just keep me posted as we get closer on about what time you want to meet. I'll msg you and heffay my contact info right now.
According to Google, there is an In-out burger close to the intersection of 74 and I-17. Should be easy to find. I can call from Parker or Wickenburg to give you a close ETA.

Green, and Matt, it looks like there is a private campground 5 miles north of JT: JT Lake RV and campgrounds. Looks like a dirt parking lot, but they have flush toilets, and possibly more importantly, hot showers. They also have a store, but I don't know if they have beer!!

What time should we oughta be at APE/Willow Springs?
Mooshie, I'll be staying in Ventura or Venice and can meet you in Palmdale and then motor out to Rosamond.

APE is local for me so anytime works.  I don't know who's riding in vs who will already be in the area.  I'm pretty open to whatever the group decides.

Can I get a head count of who is coming so I can let the track know what to expect?
