Riding Season Has Officially Ended - For Me
« on: February 03, 2012, 12:47:12 AM »
The riders broken, not the bike. No damage pix to put up.....sorry

I had back surgery on Jan 25 to remove a few blown disks in my lowest back and fuse a couple vertebrae in the same area. Maybe Ill have a cool xray to post once its received. Doctor says NO riding till at least 3 months have gone by. That kills me man, these days this winter are oddly ideal for riding, usually overly windy days of 55-65 degrees and the nights are only dropping to the 40-50 range. Great scootin for jan and feb so it kicks my ass to be told not to ride, and I guess thats why Im venting here. Sure cant complain to the wifey about it. Right before surgery the dr asks if myself or the wife have any final questions. I ask how long till I can ride on 2 wheels again.....She glares at me and asks 'How long till we can be intimate again'. Oops, guess my priorities were transposed.

On a better note though, my right leg already has full movement and complete feeling, and the left leg is trying its best to catch up. Its so nice to once again feel and move all my toes again.

Thanx guys and gals..............Boats  8)

Sorry to hear about the lost ride time, Boats.  Glad to hear about the legs though.  Just get through this and maybe the ride time will be much more enjoyable without the back pain.

I don't think that's a very good idea for new spine surgery, One sharp pain at 50mph and his riding career could be over for much longer than 3mo's. Maybe cheat a bit on the constant pestering by the wife for intimate interaction.

Get well Boats.

I wonder how that goes over when you get in a wreck on your bike.

Heath Insurance person: So you got into a wreck on an imaginary motorcycle?

Boats: No, actually it was a broom I borrowed from a neighbor that is a wiccan witch.

Dude, do you realize how dumb that statement sounds? Don't tell your insurance company you ride a bike?!?!?!

Hahahaha, if I needed a broom to ride from a wiccan witch Id just borrow the sweeties  ;D, its our following anyway.  I plan on following the docs advice on this one. As MikeK says one unseen pothole at any speed ends my riding career. The only thing keeping my vertebrae spacing is 4 plates, 8 screws, and I believe 1 cage of some sort. Until Im walking with less than 2 canes and eating less than a half-handful of pills I aint doing squat to further damage anything. Cant wait till I can at least get back out to the shop and do some of the little things on the machine that could be done in the downtime though. Maybe soon, Ive got a new can of mothers for that special day........ 8)
