K1 fork ear ID.
« on: January 30, 2012, 07:13:58 PM »
Does this look like a k1 fork ear.  I'm just not sure if this is a k2 or later painted black.  Fuzzy picture doesn't help.

Look for chrome underneth the paint for it to be a k2, bare metal for k1 or earlier. Later than k2 will have separate holes (dedicated for turn sigs) located in the middle of the "ear"

I got a better picture of the fork ears.  It's in extended storage and not at my house.  It's from my early to mid k1 that I was going to use as a parts bike but tunred out to run well and complete and very cheap.  The fork ears don't seem to have any holes for the reflectors so they don't seem to be K0-K1???  Also the side covers have a trim on the left side of it.  What bike are they from?

The forks have been off. The chrome rings are missing from the around the bottom.
The ears don't look like they were ever chromed, but it's hard to tell.

I was thinking the same thing, with the rust there is a chance they were not chromed so may be K1.If you get a hands on look and see chrome they are K2. The holes where the reflectors would of fit were possibly filled in before they were painted for a smoother look. That chrome strip on your sidecover is just some door moulding that was put on there as well as the bottom of the gas tank. Looks like you got your plastic chain guard, thats a plus.

The case is original (the numbers are very close).  754, you can tell the head is newer by the fins having one vertical brace instead of two (on the side)???
