Question on my new jets.
« on: February 03, 2012, 08:53:32 AM »
I orderd some new jets from my local dealer. My old ones are size 38 he gave me a set of 40's.
I tried to screw them in and there not going in really. Do I need to put elbow grease cause there new and larger or is this wrong? I don't wanna mess anything up. Can someone let me know if these are the right main jets.
76 550
Thanks

40's gonna be your idle jet an if they dont screw in easy they are the wrong size, I found the dealerships dont really know a whole lot about the older bikes I would try sirius con inc for jets

So maybe he ordered me main jets?? Should I take them back and ask for idle jets?

Are they for the right carbs? You should have the 087A's. id on mine. I think the other 550 carbs are 022A i think not sure. i know theres some differences in the two

he gave you a set for the 500 not the 550 and the stock jets are 38 slows 100 mains however if you have made it breathe a little easier the 40 will work fine but you will need one for the a 74 750 or for the 550
