I prefer the unpainted look. I also enjoy polishing alloy.    ;D
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

Shift forks are OK, no blue color and within spec.

Did you have to get oversize pistons?
.020( .508mm) or .040(1.016mm) thousandths  over?

I decided to sandblast all the engine, but I don't pint it.
Do you have experience with non pinted crankcase?
I asume that colour will become dark after some time and I know that this finish will need all my care to mantain it in perfect condition but I love colour and finish of "nude" cast.

With a sandblasted finish it will get dirty and dark grey color. Dirt will really stick to it.
No way to clean it. Also corrosion canstart.
I would paint it with engine paint.


BTW....The driver gets the same prison sentence as the robber, and the driver can also still get shot. The robbers usually shoot the driver and split his share.
Then the drivers girl friend turns in all of them to the cops.
Then the girlfriend of the driver and the girlfriends of the robbers get investigated by the police because the police know they have the money then they go to jail too. Better to just get a job and be honest in the long run.

Are you sure? There are a lot of non pinted engine, also in Honda. most of Honda scooters has no paint in the transmission case and crankcase. If you do not take care, white dots of corrosion may appear but only if this bikes rides in salted roads or in seaside areas. I love my bike and I will care it.

As you can see in first picture, my bike was OK but nor 100% original, exhaust system is aftermarket, rear shocks are Marzzocchi, and some parts are from a CB550K not CB500K. It won’t be a “museum” motorcycle so I want to be free to install modern brakes or front fork if needed.
These are the reasons why I decided to redesign it with new colors and some special parts. One of the parts that will have different finish is the cylinder block, I painted in black.
Engine side covers will be mirror polished, engine supports, battery plate, electrics plate will be chromed.

But now it's time for carburetors. If you see them installed on the bike, they are Ok. But once you remove them, you can see how dirt they are, especially between number 2 and 3. It is a good opportunity to install new o-rings, gaskets and tubes.

It's time to assembly the engine:
This is the list of new parts:
5th gear of countershaft
 Bearings (main shaft and countershaft)
All Gear washes and circlip
Main shaft and countershaft oil seals
Primary shaft bearings
Crankshaft bearing: Cylinder 1,2 and 4 brown color, cylinder 2 green color
Clutch friction disc and metallic, also new springs.
New pistons
All gaskets are new.
All bolts are new. All except the bolt who fix drum ref. 2445-266-020. Impossible to find.
Chains are OK, and also chain tensioner.

I recently picked up a 72 CB500 K1 with 1200 original miles, went thru all the standard stuff re carbs, valves/tappets, points, rebuilt front brake cyclinder chased a damn electrical short for days!!! Dissambled all and cleaned, except the engine. Thinking about pulling engine soon and polishing engine covers (clutch side/points side)...was the philips heads screws holding engine covers together a #$%* to remove?

I agree, philps head screws are a big #$%*. I absolutely prefer allen head bolts. But this time I use original screws so some of them are Philips head.

2 weeks ago I received parts from painter.
Colors are based on honda original colours:
Red: Is the same as CB1300 frame 2005 year model
White: VFR1200F 2010 year model
black: NT700V  2010 Year model
I coudn't resist to make a quick assembly

Are you missing the rubber part that connects the frame to the tank? I don't think you want metal on metal an possibly ruin your tank

Thanks for the comment, I just put fuel tank over the frame, it is not fixed. Obviously I will use the rubber when the tank is fixed.

Thanks Mr Gardman. I also love red frame. My biggest concern when I decided to paint it is that you can not come back to the origin unless you make all the job again.
