I just bought this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4642552221&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1. Dunno if it's genyouwine Honda, and frankly, I don't actually need an ignition switch, but at $15 it was too hard to pass up.

I was bidding on this side cover http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4641061030&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEDW%3AIT&rd=1 and quit at twenty bucks, as I was only interested in the "500Four" plate and David Silver is selling them new for only a few dollars more than that.

Damn thing ended up going for almost 35 bucks, chipped, cracked, and with a broken tab.  ???

Hey 6pk, I know the shot of your bike is quite aways back but, I gotta tell ya, That is definitely
one good looking (emphasis on Good Looking bike!! It is a mighty fine example of the 750. Good
job! I've always wondered what the rest of your bike looked like and it was well worth the wait

The F3 Bill? You want to see more F3 pictures? The K2 is pretty much as last time but with the Gold cases on it. I have not had time to put the stripes on the tank yet (picked up an Orange K2 with some more Fs on Thursday and it has an original tank, so now I know exactly where the factory put them. And on that tank anyway they are not exactly mirror images of each other. The left hand side stripe is more than 1/8 inch further back on the tank than the right. So I guess they put them on by eyeballing it at the factory.) the K3 is still awaiting the frame paint, and the K4 just has the engine done. So I guess it must be more F3 shots you want?

Hey 6pk,  Yeah, it's the F3. Sorry about that. All I had to do was look at the bottom of the
picture, huh? I wouldn't mind seeing some more shots of that one and the others, when you're
ready. That F3 is super nice, bet you're proud of that one. Keep up the good work.

I'll snap some of her tonight. And maybe I can get some of the other ladies to make an appearance. However for most of the CBs, I've disassembled them to make storage space. The ones awaiting their turn at the wrench carnival that is.

I think the editors of the Classic Motorcycle and Mechanics said it best: "Watch out for overpriced examples by greedy or misguided people".

Honda CB750 was built cheaply (cost effective) to beat the Triumph/BSA 750s. They were successful. So I believe in buy cheap, sell cheap mentality but I've been doing most of the former. Fortunately due to its popularity, new parts are being built (although not cheap)and you can easily maintain the CB750s.

Unfortunately people pay way too much for CB750 parts, even on ebay. $500 for side panel? Panel that old, even in clean condition can crack easily due to its age, remember Honda built them cheaply. Fortunately many new parts are in better quality than the original units.

I'm still waiting for the Chinese clone of CB750.

Ted, the collector car world is even more insane, by a factor or 10 at least. Prices were going nuts, but with the televised version of Barrett Jackson the cars and parts went beyond the stratosphere. $2500 steering wheels, $4500 trunk finish panels, $5,000 - $9,000 fenders, $600 AM-FM 8 tracks that need to be rebuilt. And if something is NOS - well write your own cheque.

That self-bidding is pretty common. But I had recently a misunderstanding. I was outbid in a couple of books for about 55 bucks each. The seller sent me second chance offer, but then I thought I had been caught on a bid war and ignored it.

A week later the same book appears. I was again outbid at about 40 bucks. Another second chance offer. Looked at my "items I didn't win" and turns out that I was outbid by the same buyer.

This time I answered something like "No thanks, it's clear you are using a friend's account to increase prices". His response, in an offended way: "Whatever. That buyer has bought me many books in the past. I was just offering you another example I have". Checked his feedback and he was right. Apologized and tell him that maybe I would bid on his books if he didn't mind. Never got any response.

Two weeks later the same book. Tried to bid but he had banned me. As he said: "Whatever".

This hobby becoming mainstream mean that even the lousiest pile of rust will be worth hundreds on the eye of the owner. ¿The best thing? Ignore them and make them have it for months, until the price is reasonable. We everybody have sometimes in our life paid something way too expensive, learnt the lesson and now we think twice before being caught. Let the unaware learn from their own experience.

I love it when I ring for information and ask the price. I used to be polite and reply something as "OK, I'll think about it". Now I say "Excuse me, I didn't hear you well. How much did you say?" Many of them get nervous. Some other stand their ground and repeat the quote louder. Then I say: "Well, that's price is so much beyond reasonable that I won't waste my time nor yours trying to negotiate it until we reach a fair price. Good luck and good afternoon". They deserve to be treated like that.

The sad part Raul is that almost anything from the baby boomer era is now getting to be collectible. And of course prices are going with the collectibility. There are many out there with deep pockets and they are recapturing items from their past regardless of cost. Everything seems to have gone this route, from Corgi toys to you name it. Mega bucks for the lot.

Sorry, but I love my 76 KH500. It's the only Kawasaki triple I have and I actually want to get more, 1972 S2 and H2 are on my high lists. Compare to my CB750, the KH500 feels like a 250 street bike and is practically vibrationless. It's still in new condition with less than 8000 miles. Maybe I'll give it up after I retire when I'm too old to drive but that's still a long way.

Fortunately I bought a new NOS Honda CB750 handlebar switches from J.C. Whitney over 20 years ago for $3 each. That's going to my 1969 CB750 restoration. I just wish I bought more but fortunately many parts I bought back then are getting real handy now.
