Keep the fairing and give me the bike!     Looks good either way.

Ernie,
You know what they say about opinions but here is mine,

The purists out here will say dump the fairing. I think you should do what feels right to you. Try riding with it, then without. If you decide to keep it, you might contemplate getting it painted to match the scheme of the bike.

My two cents,

Jeff

Keep it as a period accessory.

Ditch the seat!

Ernie,

I like it.  I had a Voyager fairing on my bike and then saw a movie with a wild motorcycle scene.  I think Stalone was on the bike.  I ditched the Voyager and got a fairing like the one you have.  You don't have to push it down the road.  I like Dusthawk's suggestion and that is to paint it to complement the bike.

Eh!! Well that's just one opinion.

Take Care

Nothing wrong with the fairing... lets talk about that sail of a back rest.  ;) I'm joking. Wether it's the fairing or the backrest, if it makes the ride more enjoyable and therefore gets you riding more I say keep it.

Ernie Jr  :P -
If you get rid of the fairing and run an extension cord from the garage, you can mount a TV on the bars and have an outdoor entertainment center.  If you're talking about looks, get rid of the fairing AND the Barcalounger.  Is that a Murphy bed for bikes?  Now THAT's a great idea, actually.

As long as the roll bar is there, can a four-point harness be next?
I'm still waiting for someone to invent a video screen for the back of the helmet in front so the wife and kids can watch videos while riding.

Ernie, I meant the fairing as a period accessory.  A lot of bikes had them in the 70's.

Now the seat....

I know what you mean though, my wife won't go on my VFR until I put a topbox/backrest on it as she's frightened of falling off the back.

I fancy a Corbin like this but it's $400 for the seat and $300 for the backrest...  :o

Jeff's got a pretty good idea, in my book. Give it a shot and you decide which way you
like it. The fairing's not bad and, like Jeff said, painted in the same paint scheme as the bike
would look pretty decent (not that it looks bad now). It would definitely add to the already
good look of the bike. The way your bike is setup already, I'd probably keep the fairing. To
me, the accessories on your bike fit the style of riding you do and your bike needs to be
setup for your purpose. Just My Thoughts.    Bill

that corban is nice lookin but if i bought it i wouldnt need the backrest because my wife would devorce me.  ;D j/k but she wouldnt be happy, anyway thanx for your veiws and i think i am gonna do the color scheme on the ferring i really like that idea and i did a rendering of it in psp and it looks real cool im also thinking about doing the fenders in gloss black with maybe a singleorange and gold stripe to match, looks wild on the rendering, but it might be a bit too much. :-\
