Rightside foot brake spindle--- Fixed
« on: February 05, 2012, 09:33:47 AM »
How do you insert the right foot brake spindle without taking the swing are off? I tried all ways but can not get it in properly....... This is the last thing needed to do for my build....

Did you remove the rod?
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

If the wheel is on, rod comes off. If no wheel, it shoudn't be a problem. The lever part does need to be between the engine and swingarm tube. Many here have settled for installing it with the lever too far back towards the rear. Brake won't adjust if so.

Thanks MC, tire is on. I removed the bar that connects to the rear drum already... You are correct in regard to the lever being between the swing arm and engine. Thats the part I can't get to properly. Will I have to remove the swing arm? Or is an option to remove the right side part of the swing arm bolt half way and lift the swing arm up as much and guide the lever that way?

Its been a while since I did mine. First no the swingarm does not have to come off. You have to hold your mouth just so. I'll go check mine and see if i can remember the trick.

I forget, it is a 750 K correct?

I can't see any obstacle to it other than the rod and the spring.  Your rod is off and the spring will put up a fair fight but it will lose.

Other than that it should slide right in I think.   :-\

I just had the same problem with a '76 cb550f, I couldn't find a way to do it without swing arm removal...just sayin'...hopefully, MCRider is right and the 750 is different...

Rather then removing the entire swing arm, wouldn't I be able to remove the blot that holds the swing arm. Let the front of the swing arm drop while have the rear axle installed still?

can't think of any reason that wouldn't work...I did pretty much the same, I just unbolted the shocks too and pulled out the whole wheel/swingarm shebang...debatable whether this wasn't more awkward and frustrating than just taking the wheel off properly...I'd definately try what you propose above first
If it works good, it looks good...

Update, I removed the swing arm bolt, and bumped it upwards by hand. Lever fit in and bumped the swing aarm down with my hand. All good to go... Easy smeezy
