ABOUT 75% SURE I AM GONNA SELL THE CB.......
« on: June 09, 2006, 01:40:01 PM »
Yo....

After having my bike locked up at Triple-o in the city, I have been doing ALLOT of thinking. I really like the CB, and have got it to where I want it to be, but I think I might be in the market for something different. Something newer, that I could ride daily, with more of an industrial / streetfighter feel...

I have been looking real hard into a few different bikes to replace the CB. In the past week I have went and test drove a Ducati Monster & a Triumph Thruxton. Going to ride a new Buell Lighting after work today. I def. am a fan of the cafe/streetfighter look, thus my selection in bikes. I wish I had the space to keep the CB and get another bike, but I only have the room for one bike in the garage, as the 55 takes up most of the space..

At the moment I am leaning towards a Monster, but like the Thruxton as well. I am a huge fan of the Buell's overall look, but have heard nothing but bad things about their reliability. The last thing I need is a bike that is in the shop being fixed more that I get to ride it. The look the Buell has is all me, just timid about the service issues I have heard about...

So, would anyone be intrested in my scoot before I have to throw it up on Ebay and deal with the idiots ? As I said, I am still unsure of what exactly I am gonna do, but it is looking like the CB will be sold, and that cash will be put towards whatever bike I decide to purchase...Maybe I will feel different when I get to ride the bike again in a few weeks, maybe not... ???

With all the talk on here about the impending cafe craze, it seems like you should wait- and if it's the space in the garage and not the money you'd get for it also helping with the new purchase, then why not store it until you can get top dollar.  That is if no one here wants it.  I would wait to deal with the ebayots until it will be way worth your while.  Sick bike by the way.

Why would you do all that work and then sell it?  I say hold onto it, you will regret selling it later i bet.  I understand the want for a newer more reliable bike, I think im in the same category.  Im looking into getting a honda 599 oe suzuki sv650 myself.  But I plan to hold onto my CB.....forever, or until i die, whichever somes first.  I mean, you arnt going to get a substantial amount of money from selling a CB, so why not just hold onto it.  They cost nothing to insure.  Make room, or get a shed or something to free up garage space, keep it!

I'll get your gauge (tach) done and it will make you all drooly over the girl all over again.  ;D

If not, I know a guy who has this huge shop that could house it until you change your mind  ;) ::)

there has been a comment or two about a newer more reliable bike... i'd say 30+ years speaks highly of the reliability.  but, i can understand your want for a newer bike.  that's why i spent last fall's school financial aid on my 92 zx7r  8)

i'm with the other guys... you'll regret it, i know it.  the sohc4 gets in your bones and in your dreams.  there's no escaping the lure.  the ghost of your sohc4 will haunt you until you break down and buy another as a second bike to back up your addiction.  by that time you'll have added at least a carport to house the 55 and the leftover space will be too much to handle  :)

ProTeal, I can't believe you didn't read all the FAQs in the forum.

Your not allow to sell your bike once you get one of these SOHCs and come through this door.
It's unheard of,  and I'm truly quite shocked that you thought you would get away with it.

No one here gets out alive, ;D

Seriously man, work a bit harder for a few months and put together the $2000.00 you will get on Ebay..........BECAUSE NO ONE HERE WILL OFFER TO SEPARATE THE TWO OF YOU!

P.S. Sweet ride, and as has been said before "I bet you look back at it once in a while"  ;D

Here is the final group before installing the chrome ring (that will be done in the AM) If time does us right you will be staring at this mutha before you even get your bike back!

I don't do this install for anyone, just think of that. Keep in mind I was up till 12:30 am on a Friday to get this done for you. I want you to hate selling this bike after you install the tach..... 8) Once addicted always addicted  ::)

hey guys, thats for all the positive comments on my scoot.
They are always appreciated...

I spent the better part of last night (and the wee hours of the morning) thinking everything over.
Me and a friend, that just happens to be a girl went out to some Italian joint in the city, and had more than
a few drinks, plus I had to be at a shop to get my pickup bed Line-X'ed at 7am this morning  :o

Anyways, I have decided to keep the CB.
I am not gonna get any money for it, it is a blast to ride, and I am still not done messin with it.
So, the CB will stay in my collection, but I still do plan to purchase another streetfighter type bike.
Maybe a Speed triple, maybe a Thruxton, maybe just a used sportbike, who knows...

ELCHEAPO --->
That Tach looks kickass. I cant thank you enough for doing that for me, as I know if I attempted the install
I would end up bleeding and have a broken tach..

Funny I am getting good at the face installs. It looks damn nice in person  ;D. I'm gonna hit the surround with a nice glass like coat of house of color pearl black. Shines better in the sunlight and looks richer than the plain high gloss black.  ;D

Good choice keeping the bike it’s not in stock condition so as you say not worth much, you would probably get more if you sold the parts  separately.
