Pics of CB500 remote ign switch mount???
« on: May 28, 2006, 07:32:34 AM »
Back when they were new, you could buy a remote mount for the CB500/550 that moved the ign switch up to the handlebar/top bridge. I had one on my CB500 and it worked great. Stock harness was stretched slightly, but there was enough slack to pull it up OK.

...But due to advancing CRS, I don't recall what it looked like or which two bolts it used to mount the switch...

Anybody got a pic???

Go here...

http://www.crc2onlinecatalog.com/chopper2.htm

and halfway down the page you will find their ignition switch mounting plate.

It looks like it bolts to the top two bolts on the idiot light cluster, which would mount your switch on top, between the clocks.

Or, lacking that, you could fab one up yourself with a jigsaw and a drill.  8)

Thanks for the link! Although that's not the one I recall...the one sold back in the '70's was like a big number "6", and mounted to the left two bridge bolts. That put the switch right between/under the stem and the left bridge mount...

But the CRC2 mount looks like it would work better...less strain on the harness...it actually would mount below the clocks, without stretching the harness...I just made up a couple of plastic templates to see how it would work (both styles)...the switch has lots of clearance on top of the tank...and would fit close to the stem nut but still clear...

I'm with you on the jigsaw/drill fab...I have some 1/8" 304 SS that should work nicely...

Thanks! You've actually managed to stimulate me! (That's quite hard to do...)  ;)

Sorry my chain isn't up to par, but it has been replaced since that photo.
If you are in search of some custom bracket, just make it yourself.
It isn't hard to take a piece of metal, and cut it to whatever pattern you want...

Yes, that's quite similar to the one I had, except mine was chromed. I mounted mine upside-down from the way yours is, so my switch was to the right of the two mounting bolts (next to the stem).

I'm making one up now. Taking time out for Yankees baseball, however.   ;D

No kill switch on the bike at the momment.
I am going to wire something up when I get the bike back, prob just a simple
toggle or something under the gastank.

No prob bud, I can be one as well.
