Yeah, don't make 'em like those "Maier" aftermarket sidecovers, I've got a set here somewhere that came with some other parts I bought, and they really look like schidt. Cheers, Terry.

I was talking to a guy I know who was checking out a 1971 CB750P (cop bike) and guess what? It had aluminum side covers! If I was there, I'd have offered the seller a pair of "genuine" sideys for a swap! Cheers, Terry.

Not really. I'm still trying to get the money to start it up. The way things are going with this economy it will be a while.
I have some other ideas for the old honda's, but that too will be a while later.

for the insert why not do a Zeus fastener type mechanism . something that fits in the slit sideways and then you turn it one way and it fit tight. they won't fall off and you won't have to find a wrench if your stuck on the side of the road.

Sounds like they use a wellnut - many late model sport bikes use them to mount the bodywork & windscreens. Likely Maier parts...

Just FYI... A set sold on eBay last week for $107. Another set, painted with a matching tank, sold about a month ago for $199 (if I remember correctly..). They still come up occasionally. RR

PK, that is one of the RAREST goodies ever made for a cb 750... pretty cool. I got a couple of his Weber manifolds... for 750s..

And I just loved the Magnacycle...

So just seen this thread, what is the progress on making cast aluminium side covers then? Sand cast motors deserve sand cast side covers too..
