We've all heard the term 'survivor' used to describe old bikes but what really is a 'survivor' anyway?  Perhaps a true survivor is any original, unmolested vintage motorcycle?  Well, if so, I present to you my '74 CB550 K0 with only 2600 Original miles built in 3/74...

I discovered this gem at a franchise dealer where it was at one time on display then it was moved to the 'back' where it sat for several years.   I am now in the process of transferring the title into my name but am already thinking of selling this to fund other projects, namely a '76 CB400F.  I installed a new battery just to test the electrical system and as expected everything works fine.  Luckily for me the PO drained all the fuel from the tank & carbs prior to lending it to the dealer.  Next step is to wash & detail the bike then we'll see from there...

So the big and 'loaded' question is what is a reasonable asking/reserve price for a CB550 K0 such as this?  What's it worth as it sits ?    Is there a large demand for this bike, i.e. 1st model year with low miles?   I may end up listing this on eBay but would rather sell it to another SOHC enthusiast from this forum...

Very nice bike!  I think that could bring a solid $3-4K on ebay.  Maybe more with the right bidders, and LOTS of good pics.  It's not really a museum piece (IMHO), so you can't expect those kinda prices, more like excellent 'rider' prices...like $2-3K for a forum member..all just my opinion.

Welcome to the forum from another North Carolinian. By the pictures looks like a nice original 550. I had a all original 76 CB550 back in the late 70's. Liked that bike a lot and of course now I wished I had held onto it. CB550's are much rarer than 750's in this shape anyway. If it's not quite in the condition the pics seem to make it than $2000-2500. If it's everything the pics seems to make it $3000 and maybe another $500 if the right person wants it bad enough ;) Finding any of these SOHC4 in dealerships is very rare. But I did fine my 750K6 at one in 2009. More than I was wanting to pay for my first 750, but in very good shape so good I was confident enough to ride it home. $2483 out the door and a full tank of gas ;D Been a great bike no regrets. Than last May found a 750KO in good condition with 20K on the clock for $900. Definitely right place right time on that deal ;)

Were in NC are you. We might be neighbours.

Clean it up and I'd say it would probably go north of 3K on ebay.

That actually is a rare bike.  For top dollar, wait 'til Spring and eBay it. Or sell it to a member for $2K.

It's probably not worth much.  It's all covered in dust.  I'll take it off your hands if you want.

Hate to be a Debbie Downer but these questions bug me when a guy comes on here to ask his potential customers what he thinks his bike might be worth. Is there not enough info out on E-bay and the rest of the internet, etc. to make an educated guess at its potential value.Go ahead folks and give him a free appraisel so he does not have to do anything for himself-----  ::)  Nice find though---  ;)

My opinion is worth exactly what you pay for it.  ;)

Seriously, this is, imho, the perfect place to get an honest, realistic opinion about the value of vintage Honda four.
