How to install this DCC seat 550
« on: February 06, 2012, 09:01:12 PM »
Ok so I'm not very tech savy and am curious what is the best way to make this fit and install?? There's no slots on the bottom so I'm in the air what to do? Has anyone done this to a 76 550 and have some good pointers for me??

If it were me, and I had the stock pan... I would remove the stock hinges from the OEM pan, then rivet them to the new seat.  That being said, I dont know how well it lines up on the frame and if it would be too high or low if mounted that way.  Since you have the luxury of hiding the rivets with the removable leather, it seems like the easiest route to me.  Plus you retain the ability to use the tool tray with ease.

You made me think about it after I cheered knowing someone else would like to know what these control freaks are up to.
Every time any owner strips whatever precious Honda part the horrified purists parts go up in value. That's not the part that bothers them.
What bothers them is they sat up late at night, their breast full of wonder and estrogen, unable to sleep, dreaming about their lovely darling and all her glory... and next thing you know someone else doesn't share their emotional deluge and their reaction is they must spread their mind museum as far as they possibly can, taking over as much of the real world as possible.

First off, nice seat!

You can unsnap the upholstery, right? If yes, drill two 3/16's holes laterally and install long carriage bolts. Then get a flat bar and drill corresponding holes and fit under frame and insert bolts and tighten with wing nuts. Thread lock would be a good idea too.
Sorry, no pics, my cafe seat is hinged.

I just ordered the universal seat setup. It was 60$ I think. I guess I wish I would have known it didn't come with the goods. Also I like the seat but I kinda thought it would be made a bit more durable. The mold is made of cheap plastic... And its just some foam and a simple leather toss over.....nothing fantastic. My gf said it looked cheap...like somethin she could get a stvincent de Paul thrift stores. I paid like 240$ for it. I just thought it would have been made of some hard fiberglass. Kinda upsetting and I had to wait two months for it from day of order...not sure why??
