Trim seat pan question..
« on: February 09, 2012, 01:00:25 PM »
I bought one of those Vietnam seat covers off eBay for $150 (free shipping, haha). It said it would fit a cb550k from 74-77. I thought it seemed a little fishy. Well, my bike is a 1977 cb550k and as suspected the cover is not long enough. Can I trim the seat pan so I can still use the factory seat lock and hinges and my new cover, or is the frame itself longer at the hump too? Meaning, if I trim it to fit the new cover the seat won't cover the end of the frame?

You want to chop up your stock pan so a cheap ass cover will fit :o. Take your pan to a good upholstery shop and you are done simple ;D If you do end up cuting the pan and it does not work why not cut the frame to make it fit  ::)

Yeah one of the problems of buying online. If it's the wrong one someone's going to pay the freight to return it. maybe they will swap you the right one for just freight?

74 - 76 will fit.

77 - 78 will fit but not cross over to the older ones.
