help with a cam chain tensor question
« on: February 09, 2012, 10:48:11 PM »
How important is part number 20 in this picture. I cant seem to find them anywhere and i am waiting to install the holder. Can i just get some regular 6mm washers? If so do they need to be steel, aluminum, or copper or can i get some other kind like zinc? Thanks in advance.

I THINK they are a straight steel washer
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

My parts book shows 2 x M6x16 flanged bolts, which is what I use. less chance of washers falling in to the engine.
If you don't have these then yes these will be a steel M6 flat washer.

My parts book just said 6mm washers and I can see where the old washers were sitting on it and its def a circle shape and not the shape of a flange washer

wHAT'S the part number? That will tell you (or someone who understands the system) whether they are standard washers or not.

94101-06000 is usually standard garden variety 6mm flat washer.

The hardware store didn't have any flat washers that were 6mm buy they had lock washers that were. Think this would hurt anything? They are little thicker

Just go and get some M6 flat washers steel or stainless. Spring or lock washers are not required here. Or get the correct M6 x 16 flanged bolts. OEM from Honda.
