phenolic brake piston
« on: February 09, 2012, 08:43:55 PM »
I've read a couple of project build posts where a phenolic brake piston is mentioned.
From what I can gather a member of this forum  modifies an existing piston to adapt it for 500,550,etc. use.
Are these replacement pistons still available, where are they available and at what cost?
If any member has used these items a report on their efficiency and effectiveness would be appreciated.
Thanking in advance any member for information re guarding this item.
Cheers,
DEL

So, the strategy is to lie to people you are asking for help?

I think I'll be busy going for a ride.

I did not care for the phenolic piston on my 550  took it out and put the stock piston back in after polishing it to a shine in my opinion works better there are also ceramic pistons available too but after seeing one shatter I won't use them either

Dave Silver now also sells a Stainless repro pisto cheaper than a genuine plated one

I think it is a different Kevin, not the one with the store.  Should be kevin400f, and I have the product in at least 4 of my bikes, no problems. In my mind if the piston is designed to bring a large GM car down from a high speed panic stop it should work well on my   puny Honda...Larry

No problems with Kevin's phenolic on my 750 for the past 3 years, stops it perfectly fine.

Aren't both kevin's somehow related, even if only with regards to the store.  'sides, I thought he moved to Bangkok or something like that.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.
