Topic: PC stock rims with pits?

Hey folks, I promise I searched.

The rims on Beans do not look like they will clean up real well and I see people either paint or PC, not sure how much of one or the other.  So, if you are PCing the rims, what are you doing about the pits or gouges in the chrome?  Will they fill in or are y'all just living with the pits after a PC?  I would image paint not to last too long.  Talking bout the exterior of the rim.

Minor pits and scratches tend to be filled with the PC process..........especially if the rims is rotated during the baking process.  Major flaws in the metal should be sanded-polished to avoid sharp edges before the PC process.

Thanks Dennis!  So sanding the chrome is no big deal then and the chrome can be left on?  What if I need to sand a noticeable amount, is there not a brass or copper layer underneath?  If so, PC should be fine then too?  I do understand that you can PC wood if you really wanted to.

There are only 2 limitations to what you can powdercoat.
Can it take the heat of baking?
Can it hold a static charge so you can coat it?

If your guy is like my local guy, he will sandblast it anyway before coating. I'm removing the one or two heavy spots myself and blending them into the surrounding area, which he says he can fill. I may also get him to add a pinstripe as well, he says that is no problem.
