Is there a 750 wiring loom layout anywhere?
« on: February 08, 2012, 07:58:09 PM »
I need something that shows the layout of the actual loom and all the connections.
The regular shop wiring diagram isn't helping me much - some of my wires have been changed - the colors don't match.

I'm not getting continuity in a couple of places.
E.G. between the front brake switch and the tail light.

I need to be able to see where particular wires are connected in the loom so I can trace the odd colors back to their origins.

Grumpy I hate to say it but only the guy that changed the wires knows where they go now. You will have to tug and pull to find them. But I and others may help if you list each issue like you did with the front brake. What bike year and size? they are mostly close to the same. But there were some changes. Bad thing is that doesn't mean the PO followed the same path. I know the 1978 750 K model pretty good but still need the print in front of me. Tell us the bike or did I miss that?

There might be some help for you here on p19-20:

My own front brake light wires were broken from 40 years of flexing with every turn of the handlebars. The wire jacket looked OK but the copper strands were broken inside the jacket, oh a few inches back from the connectors. I got some superflex wire and peeled the harness back a bit under the gas tank and spliced them in. No more problems.

Grumpy About your stop light circuit. Let's say it starts at the front stop Sw. power comes in as a black wire then turns into a green/yellow wire from there it goes into the headlight bucket to a five or six pin connector comes out of the bucket goes in the main harness. Then out the harness at the rear of the fuel tank. Then it goes two places one is the rear stop Sw. and the other is on top of the rear fender under the seat. there is a bullet connector there with a few others it is still a green/yellow wire or in your case it should be :) From there it goes to one more and the last bullet at the stop light.
Is this the information you are looking for??
Have not heard back from you. did you figure it out?

You will not get continuity from there.

That's what I was looking for. That helps a lot.
I just wish that was in color

I'm really tempted to get a new loom - Or just build my own.

There should be - the green/yellow wire off the brake switch joins with the G/Y wire from the rear brake switch and then goes to the tail light, right???

DING! DING! DING!

That's it!

I pulled the connectors off the switch & gave the green a tug and about and inch of wire pulled right out of the jacket!

SOLVED!!!

Thanks!!

There is a very good color print here that you could use along with that one you like from Kevin D. I have a copy somewhere if you want it.
