my bike has become a victim to these wind gusts that have popped up in nc in the last 3 hours.  the wind blew it over into a tree and dented in the gas tank pretty bad.  decal and paint are chipping off.

I hope my home owners will cover costs, now i wish i had gone with more than just liability on my bike.

 I don't live to far from you Go to your town for some of my pool parts. Winds are bad down here to. I have full coverage. Agreed value if stolen. So I'm covered both ways. Homeowners only pays if in the shop but that may be just my policy. You will need to call your guy. Good luck Take it up the road and tell the cops some ahole blew you off the road Not really. I had a tree fall on my bike one time...homeowners insurance wouldn't do #$%*...bike just had pl and pd...so nope, no money...yeah, the same one in my avatar...and my build thread......this bike has been through the MILL.....these are some tough old bikes

your right seanbarney, I can't get any money.  My homeowners just covers vehicles that are used for primary upkeep of the property (lawnmowers and such).  It is pretty cold today but within the next couple of days I am going to attempt to see if the compressed air and hair drier trick may work.  I have little hope but its better than not trying at all.

...sucks when mother nature takes it out on poor old bikes...my tank was previously badly dented, needed new paint, and had tons of bondo from previous damage...some careful and skillfull use of filler was necessary and worked wonders...

nccb, hate to here about your tank, I'm in Greensboro and I worked yesterday. But at times it sounded like the roof might be coming off, so no wonder your 750 got knocked over. These old tanks are pretty thick metal on top so I don't know if you will have any luck getting it to pop back out. Maybe if its on the side being thiner you might  can do something. My K6 had a dent on the top edge of the tank when I got it in 2009 and other than that the tank is in excellent shape. I've tried all the tricks heat, cold, dent pullers, etc, no luck. The rest of the tank is so good I've just learned to live with the small dent. I've thought about having a Dent Pro give it a shot but never have.

yeah no doubt, i had plans to ride down the outer banks in may and run a leg of the GZ but theres no way i am riding around with that.

Ok, so getting the tent out was a no-go and I took it into a body shop and he said IF he could do it it would cost 250 bucks.  Are there any other places to get tanks for these bikes besides ebay and yamiya?  Yamiya's replica tanks were freaking 600 bucks, WTF!

If that $250. covers paint and decals then that is a good price. My local guy told me $300 for tank,side covers & headlight bucket in black and clear coat but I don't need body work.

just to pop the dent.  but then looking at decals and new paint to match it would be up there.  the decals i saw on ebay were 70 bucks to match mine and i haven't even looked at the oem paint.

I'm getting ready to pay a local shop here in Chatham County $250 to do just my tank (no major dents).  It needs couple of small dings filled, primed, painted, decals and clear coat. It is a faux brushed aluminum finish, so a little more work is involved.
