Kiehn 087A carbs
« on: February 12, 2012, 09:05:02 AM »
I have been on the hunt for a good set of keihn 627B carbs for a while, and it seems that I may have found some.  But after looking at a few sets of ebay, I came across one that is listed as 087A?   After consulting with my refrence books on the CB500K0-3 there is no listing for a 627B carb.  Anyone got any information on these carbs and how they relate to a CB500K?

take the slow jet out of a 750 set you need a 40 and the main jet should be 100 they should work fine but you may have to raise or lower the needles one notch

chances are pretty good that they will work even if they have 38 slows and 100 mains which were stock for the 550 they came off  If the needles are in the middle position they should be for the stock setup you may have to turn the air screws in a quarter to half turn
when you own a motorcycle the wife does not have to find you handy she just has to find you

I'm tuning on a pair of these right now. Mine are set VERY rich. I have 38 slows and 100 mains.
The factory literature I've found says the stock position on the clip is 4th from the top (rich). I'll be pulling my slides soon and plan to raise the clip to lean it out some. I'll take note of where they are and what, if any, numbers are on the needles.

Oh, and the 087A carbs came along late in the run, after the 627B and 022a. They were one more step towards the EPA tuning and the PD series of carbs on the '77-78 550K's.
