What are you guys doing for 6mm case bolts? Any sources out there for the whacky metric flange lengths? Stainless?

Thanks!

Have you tried your local ACE Hardware store?

Some of the case bolts are different lengths.  Ace  has 20 or 25 mm long bolts.  Some case bolts are say 22 long.   Shorten the 25mm to fit.   The 3 extra mms may bottom and cause damage.  Put a nut on the screw before grinding and put a chamfer on it and remove the nut.  Its ready to go.

Use OEM Honda bolts for a 1983 CB1100F, they are chrome hex head bolts and they come in a variety of odd lengths such as 16, 18 and 32mm.

Here they are on my XL 350 instead of the philips head screws.  I just ordered them for my CB400F rebuild.

The part number is 96001-06014-00  for a 14 mm bolt.  Replace the 014 with the length you want then put it in the Honda parts finder at your favorite on-line seller to make sure its a good length.  I haven't come across many sizes that aren't available.

CUT ith nut on, chamfer, then WIRE WHEEL the bolt, just cause it dont bruise a steel nut does not guarantee it wont shave some aluminum off.
Those flanged chrome heax heads look really good..

Thanks for your input guys. Yep, no slouch to customizing bolt lengths. The difficulty I am having is finding an M6 flange bolt that is 100mm long ie case bolts. So. . . I think I'm going to go with stainless socket bolts with washers.

Here's where I'm getting them. Price seems reasonable. . .

Here's a vendor I like. And they have 100 and 120 mm Stainless bolts.
http://dmpfasteners.com/shop/nuts-bolts-washers-1824/bolts-76/hex-metric-stainless-83/m6-1332/
Ordered some button head stainless for the covers.
They have a pretty fast turnaround, usually about 4 days to get from CA. to Austin.
Good luck
