Hey everyone I'm new here finally got around to starting a thread about my bike build. I'll be posting frequent due to the fact of a year of catch up and heavy procratination. Well I hope you guys enjoy the build and progress and I am always open to suggestions and advice! This is my first motorcycle project and I'd like it to be a good experience considering I want to work on more bike and cars etc.

ok and so it begins im basically almost done this project but I don't like it so I'm starting over. here are a few pictures of what I want and what I'm working with also what it used to be

Glad you're not starting with too nice a '69! What are your frame/engine numbers? Is it a sandcast motor, frame?

You've come a long way , BABY! awe, but what a shame, the donor bike had such a nice baby blue frame "What were they thinking !?" must have been a brain freeze during those cold Canadian nights, huh.
And another thought.....I remember when EVERYONE was buyin those double butt seats (that's what I call 'em) I have three hanging in the back barn. back in the day, they were quite expensive, but I don't think they EVER looked good on the 750. Practical but Ugly.
Seriously, Wes, you're doing great it looks like, but post more/better pictures, please.

And kinda it was in Manitoba lol just outside the perimeter.

ok now to write a book... because there is a lot of catching up to do. now as soon as i had it home i had it started, the guy told me last time he had no problem starting it...20 years ago...had to use a car battery to boost it. and after finding out it started i started cleaning and painting and dissassembling.

first off had to clean the carbs and order the cap for one othe them

ok had it down to the frame, I'm a welder and i was horrified by this and wanted to inspect the whole frame.

took it to the sandblaster and was actually in great condition so i hung it up and the small space i had after a 3 coats of primer and 3 good coat of a black acrylic enamel.

Aswell i took all the other parts and did them the same way.

started putting a few parts on th get a rough idea of what shape it was taking.

then winter hit... you know you are motivated when your laundry room turns into a garge...

basically spent the winter making it pretty, and working on bearing and such.

then came the seat....

and after that the story drops off due to being too busy and priorities.

i thought i would make this two separate posts.

now whats left to do is.....

Wiring: fixing the harness and changing the components to a more updated style
Paint: fix the shotty paint job and rushed bondo job i did
brakes: just need to fill and bleed
Fenders: i want to sand blast them and possibly paint the the same color as the bike to match
Rims: possibly sandblast and paint due to rust
Carbs: tune
Gauges: find some that work haha other ones are for display purposes only

Cool, I got a 15,*** engine will try to check the numbers on mine...

You may waqt to change out your rear fender and rim for newer or trade to some of us that need KO parts..

Why is that? I'd like to keep this as stock as possible but go a cafe route. All in all this bike is also for me and me alone, I'm not good at sharing my toys.

Keeping the bike as stock as possible and sand blasting the fender doesn't quite fit keeping it as original as possible. But, you are right, it is your bike to do as you see fit. Some here will applaud what you are doing, but many will wonder why take a 1st yr. 750 when almost any other yr. would accomplish the same goal. If it means nothing to you as the 1st yr., you may consider selling it, which will generate more money, and they acquire a newer model that can be had for far less than this bike. It is a historical thing to many to keep this bike as Honda built it. It is a money thing to consider selling it for more money as it is and buying a less expensive later year bike. Money in your pocket is always a motivator for me. Still, your to do as you want.

The K0s have many unique parts on them that are particular to 1969/1970. They command a premium among CB750 owners. Even though the bike is not a sandcast, it and its parts still have value over the later bikes. Food for thought. Do what makes you happy.

In its own right the cafe racer is a part of the evolution of the bike and what makes motorcycles part of a life style I understand the historical aspect of it being a first year 750 I know the history I also appreciate it that's why I'd rather see it as something rise to be ridden instead of some to polish to be parked under a blanket. I respect history, I respect riders and all types of bikes but I'd rather ride it then look at it.

Scott, if I can avoid using or ruining a part I will but if the chrome or paint etc is so far gone I'd rather remove the rust and put paint on it adding a protective barrier rather then see it turn to crap. You'll notice none of the parts are even modified everything is to accommodate to the pre existing design of the bike. All is reversable

If you can paint them without sandblasting they would be easier to bring back to chrome if desired at a later date. The rims are a bit different and worth rec hroming even if they look bad. What are you running for taillight/? if it involves welding or dxrilling, why not use a later rear fender ...fender comes in 2 hole and 3 hole, yours is probably a 2 hole. Your rear hub is probably different than later ones as well..

The front and rear fender are not stock K0 items anyways,the rear is a later year,newer model so blast away.Whole front end,forks , ears, caliper, disc etc are also off something else. Good candidate for a cafe bike.

cool it looks like we may have some decent temperature this week so i may start on restarting on the bike, im excited this site kind of gave me a push to keep going. i look forward to the constructive criticism, and technical advice you guys have!

had some time to work on the bike it was a bit chilly so a bit of an update, hope guys enjoy. any advice or ideas would be appreciated.

more recent caliper from a 79' cb750

these are the airfilters i went with they came on the bike and i liked them a fair amount i just need to find filter foam, any suggestions?

ground off and punched out the old bolt that broke off and will adapt a new mount for the components

a mock up of the new mount, not sure if i should go for a closed unit or multiple open im going with closed i think.
