72 CB750 K2 titled frame. Is this thing useable as a hard tail frame?

   I've been talking to a guy about buying a lot of parts, part of which includes the frame seen below.  I'm thinking frame kit but did he cut the side tubes and the middle gusset in the correct places?
  Can someone post some pics or direct me to pics of a frame kit so I know if this frame is useable before I go look at it?

That is a common butcher job to do head work without removing the engine.  It is easy to repair with a removeable section, or as I do, by welding the tubes back in.

I'd say yes.  I believe the frame is cut a smidge short in the rear near the seat, but I don't see why it couldn't be made to work with one of Gordon's frame kits.  Hell, some people cut the neck off of bikes to weld onto other frames simply because the "neck" is titled.  If either you or your mechanic has decent welding skills, I would buy it.  The backbone is intact.  As long as he hasn't tweaked it by some hard riding without the side bars, it should be fine.  Make the guy selling it give you a GREAT deal on it though.  Stress how much it'll cost to get it professionally repaired.   ;D

I cut the same center tubes  from a wrecked F model and welded it into a K0. That tells me any sohc 750 frame has the correct center section. I even moved the triangle brace because it was gone too. Go for it.

A "good" K2 engine (SN to follow) two frames... the one pictured, and a "hard tailed" frame. The gold frame is titled (wrong the title is for the cut frame). Two seats, two swing arms, a K2 tank, oil tank, the triple tree, forks, three wheels, a set of "mikuni carbs" and all the odd and ends "in a Yugoslavian beer case"...

$350.00

Haven't seen it looking at the lot Wednesday.

 Buy IT !!! I have ridden a hopped up one cut with 6 over forx 1000mile s 2up in 2 days... no biggie..

If it is cut too short we could custom make a kit for it to take up the difference...

Back in 75, I had the frame cut by the Stealer Shop I was using. I rode it with the frame cut for over 5 years without any problems. That was before the Gordon Kit existed. But as stated earlier, It can be repaired without major problems.

My vote is for Valley Green.  The color looks too even on the top to be caused by fading, and I think the darker-looking side is just a factor of the lighting and low quality image.

  So it looks like the engine is a K3 and the frame is a K1... The yellow frame has no title.  Theres another titled frame that has been cut on pretty badly. Tha VIN is CB750 1101136.  It is titled as a 72, but the VIN chart provided by grachman makes it a K1.
