Rent/Borrow someones bike in Austin mid March
« on: February 13, 2012, 10:42:28 PM »
I know its a bit far fetched, and involves quite a bit of trust. But seeing how tough it is to rent a motorcycle for anything approaching reasonable rates that I would ever want to ride,... I figured its worth a try.

It would only be for a day or two, enough to get out of town a little and enjoy the land.

It need not even be your trusted SOHC, something fun and interesting preferably a bit older that will get me there and back.

I know its easy to just say these things, but I take trust/honor very seriously and would not hesitate to max out a credit card to repay you in full should anything happen.

Well , there was those guys down there who run a 'clinic' for no better words of my own, and there was a thread here in ablou March of last year or a bit earlier.

I was on the way to almost south Tejas to pick up an e-bay get. I was thinking they could help dissasemble and make it posssible by train.

Went in my own vehicle, more $, less logistics, but I think there is an Austin tool helpers somewhere on Saturdays or something. Austin COOP? Ring a bell?

thank you everyone for the links, I am looking into them now

yes I will be there for sxsw with friends but the possibility of just getting out on my own for a bit is too enticing.

for a rental it looks like something in the neighborhood of 75-100 bucks to ride a some sort of harley, i guess the torque could be kind of fun.. but otherwise meh.. not that interesting

I'll send an email to the coop, maybe they have a 'loner' bike or two..

I've been to the Austin Co-op once, it's just at a guys house once a month.

It's been awhile, but Jeff(?) is a super nice guy to host this. I did not see any "loner" bikes there, basically everyone brings there own to work on.

Singe - expect great weather next month. Forecast is 80* tomorrow...
