I know that our guys want to do the Tail of the Dragon/Cherohalla Skyway/et al on this trip, so that will definitely add some extra time to our ride. Matter of fact, if we meet up on the 5th in Chattanooga, we'd likely stay somewhere around Knoxville that night and then on into KY on the 6th. Think we could meet in Bowling Green? I think we'd be pushing it to make it all the way to Paducah and back to Nashville in one day. Our route is starting to look something like this:

I don't know who you would meet in Bowling Green.  YOu might arrange to meet Coke the next weekend?

OK I just checked and there's only one rider signed up from KY - Magnaman - and only Coke from Arkansas. @Coke - do you need to get GZ the weekend of the 5th or could you meet in Paducah or elsewhere that following weekend (12th)? I'll PM Magnaman & see what his deal is.

Hopefully GZ rested soundly with Cody in McComb.  I handed off in McComb, MS yesterday.

Ride report:

It was a warm, sunny afternoon with plenty of wind.  There was not a lot of traffic and no mechanical problems.  GZ rode with me for about 220 miles total.  I drove at total of about 400 miles since I parted my house to go get him until the time I got home.  All of which were gremlin-free, rain-free, and accident free.

I am ok with the weekend of the 12..

I think that they will need to change the schedule on the map.  It shows it being the 5th .. Will this cause anyone else down the line issues?  It isn't a problem with me at all though.. I can get off either weekend and a few days before or/and after.

Does that make sense?  LOL

I've been watching and waiting to see how this worked out.

So, the tentative plan is bowling green to paducah? That's doable but its about a 600 mile day.

Just in case you didn't catch it, I do have a four cylinder honda, just not a SOHC.

I might be able to do this

http://g.co/maps/75x5q

I only have a 350F but it did nearly this many miles last year.  I would be going it alone.  A buddy I thought might go with me on a 82 Goldwing had to bail out due to family things since this would be over mothers day weekend.  My wife is still willing to let me be gone so far..  ;)

well I don't plan to do it in one day.  I am going to take off a few days of work.  I want some time to take a few pics along the way this year.  Had to rush too much last year.  Are you guys going to do your route in one day?

Are there any Memphis area or West TN riders signed up to bridge the gap? That is a haul coke, especially by yourself. Surely, there is a SOHC4 in west TN that would want to join this rally.

I can spring for a couple of hotel rooms in Knoxville the night of the 5th with accumulated points.

Our route will be two days at least.. Sat & Sun. Coke - you might not need to come all the way to Nashville either way. Maybe we could meet you in Paducah on the 12th? Hmmmm.....

since i couldnt find a thread on here for team south i made this one please move it if needed. so far here is what my plans are, but as more people sign up it can be changed up to work out. but this is what ive been posting in the team southwest thread. as a proposed route/time frame. its just an idea to start with.

try to meet in texarkana the weekend of the 21st. then  from ar thru la back to ms and was talking with bluto from team southeast coastal about trying to meet at barbers on the 28th. i def want try to make it to barbers since i missed it last year. I also plan on bringing gz to red bluff "mississippi's little grand canyon"  outside columbia ms,
http://www.glisteninglight.com/post/red-bluff-mississippis-little-grand-canyon-a-popular-destination-on-the-winding-motorcycle-highway-ms-587

Gettin a new cord for the camera to upload the pics today, and fixing to take zilla for a ride through the sw ms countryside and if the battery holds up we'll swing by red bluff, and take some pics ourselves just in case JTB and Kirk can't make the trip to Monticello or Red Bluff.

I am gassed up and ready to go first thing in the morning. Planning to meet JTB at 7 sharp and head for Hattiesburg then to Red Bluff before turning back home to Birmingham. Fresh oil change and cleaned her up a bit.

See you Cody when we get there!  Should start the morning in the mid to high 40s and warm up to about 70 mid day.  Sounds good!

Got home about 9:30. Joe and John had a little further to go but were home soon after.  No mechanical or other issues.  Bugs cleaned off of much of the bike.  Around 600 miles today?  John has the official mileage. More to come.

Hi Y'all.......

Bluto aka Bill here.  We are set for the run to Barber this coming Saturday, 04-28-12.  We are planning to meet jtb there at @ 11:30 am.  At this point I have a firm commit from Bluezboy (Vern) and a Maybe from Trav-i.  We would love to have more riders from this area.  Cmon y'all...I know we have more SOHC4 folks in the Atlanta area.  Hit me up for details.

Zilla will spend the week touring our great city and we will be heading north the following Saturday, 05-05-12 to "hand off" to Tugboat and Spanner1.  We still need to lock down the exact time and place for that handoff.

So far...........So good.

Cheers,

Bluto aka Bill
