I am going to have to leave that morning on the 28th at 4am from my house in tylertown, ms in order to meet up with ya'll in meridian around 7am. possibly get a quick breakfast and leave meridian by 7:30-8. then plannin on takin the interstate because of the time unless someone knows other roads we can take to where it don't cut into our time more. We was hoping to get to Barbers between 10:30-11 to give us about 30 mins of spare. If ya'll are not planning on leaving al until 7am then this will not work with what we had planned unless yall know back ways that will cut out an hour or two of the time. if so, let me know because then i won't have to leave as early that morning. otherwise i'll be leaving at 4am and meet ya'll at 7am in meridian.

Cody, I was thinking to meet you at the exit of AL 14 on I20/59 around 8 to 8:30.  That would give us plenty of time to hit Barber's by 10:30 - 11:00.

I was under the impression that you and Kirk was going to actually meet me in Meridian. What happened to that plan? So now you are telling that all I have planned for this trip is going to get screwed up too just like all my plans I had for going to TX to help out there got screwed up when they went and changed their stuff. I am doing everything I can to help you all get gz from tx to al with no help so far and every single "fun" thing/spot I was planning on going to see or do I cannot do anymore because I feel im just being used to fill the gaps and can't enjoy this like everyone else. Because team SW decided to be just team TX and cut out OK, AR, LA for others, it screwed up my trip to Catto Lake I was wanting to do since I was young and ride around with Coke for longer than a quarter mile like last yr (thanks Coke and Radam for that). and this was after I had to sacrifice that hill ride in Austin that Ive been wanting to do as well since Ive lived there. Then I was going to get to ride with ya'll to Barbers at least half the way since I missed out on Barbers last year I was excited about going this year. Now it looks like Im going to be solo about the whole way now and that just isn't "fun".

There is no way I can meet you at that time there. If I do I'll have to get up that much earlier in order to get there and also have time to stop and eat. Im not trying to be rude about all of this, just being honest and im getting more aggravated than excited now.

j4,
I, for one, am very greatful for your efforts and enthusiasm so far. Going solo, or "lone wolf" isn't necessarily ideal, I rode solo for the lead-off leg last year. Spent almost 12 hrs in the saddle and did over 400 miles round trip that day. Only got to met the "Georgia boys" (some S.C. too!) for about 20 minutes and we parted ways, so I know where you're coming from. It is what you make it. Part of your frustration probably stems from the similar situation we have in NM in that there is a lot of real estate seperating members in the area. I see davis96 is in Oxford, MS, which is so far North that he would likely want to ride straight to Barber's from where he is. We all love to ride, that's why we're here, but life has a very persistant means of encroaching on our leisure time! (at least for me anyway)  ;)

With all of the Florida members we have, and I was only able to get one to meet me for the send off, (at Daytona Bike Week no less) which was cool, but company for the ride would be nice too. I'm considering reaching out to meet the "Tail end" of this relay in NC this fall (hoping we make it that far) and complete the final leg via Deal's gap (Tail of the Dragon) and Six gaps in Northeast Georgia. Probably looking at 1400 miles round trip, and I plan to do this whether I've got company or not just because I like to ride (and Deal's gap is on my "bucket list").  :)

I certainly don't want anyone to feel that they're being taken advantage of, and I would only want a member's continued support and participation because they WANT to, not because they feel like they have to. I would encourage all riders to use their best judgement when planning their level of participation to avoid overreaching to the point of fatigue.  :o "A person's reach should exceed their grasp" may not necessarily apply here. The primary goal is to have fun, and if we're lucky we'll get to share that with other members.  8)

Thanks again for your efforts, I would be happy with any level of participation you are willing to provide.

Sincerely,
Wilbur

Probably just us, Kirk.  Do you want to go out 459 or 59?  Let's pick a place to meet about 4:30-4:45.

Let's try 459.  How about Acton Road at the gas station just off the exit by McDonalds's?

I think this is the address:
Dolly Creek Convenience & Gas
2423 Acton Road, Vestavia Hills, AL 35243
(205) 823-8923

It is a Shell station, I stopped by on the way home from work to confirm address.

We need to put OK in on this list I think.  I think it got got dropped off the TX list.

I hear J4's pain.  Radam is out this year and I haven't seen much on here from other AR or MO riders.. I know I can do pick up from TN (Memphis or nearby) and probably do a run up into MO just to pick up the state and then back to AR/OK border and do a hand off to Taxi and probably ride with him a bit, but much like last year there seems to be a lack of participants in the AR/OK area

On top of that, my bike wouldn't start the other day, I think it is just the battery since there was no crank over but I hope nothing else it going wrong.. I may have to make the pick up on one of my harleys or my Kawi

Based on the map here:

I think we have to get TX, LA, MS, AL, then it goes to GA.
It looks to me like the plan is to go through part of Oklahoma on the way back west after Tennessee.

Who is meeting Cody from the west?

Cody, where are you picking up GZ?

Hey Taxi and others in the south relay section.. how does this sound

It appears that we are going to need to look at dates from the guys from TN, Where I will pick it up, I don't know how accurate the map is but it looks like I should be getting GZ around May 5 and then have it over to you in OK around the 12th  I like the idea that I don't have to rush, especially if I need to take in MO.  I didn't notice ANY MO riders on the sign up list.  I could run up north a bit and take in some of MO.

I was thinking if they bring GZ to Memphis, I would head across to Little Rock/Conway and spend the night depending on the time we do the hand off, then head up to Branson MO and take a few pictures of GZ touring the 76 strip, and the remnants of the tornado damage, then head back to AR and stay with a friend in Green Forest if I am running later in the evening.  then back home to Van Buren by way of  Eureka Springs and Fayetteville so I can take some shots of GZ in the HOG country.  I noticed that there was a rider from OKC this time that was going to try and make the rally.  don't know where you both will want to meet up or how, but we can work on the date/time as it gets closer.

I also thought that I might could also run up to Joplin MO and take some pics of GZ and more tornado damage, but that would only happen if I was doing excellent on time and the bike was enjoying the run.

Last year all Radam, Taxi, and I got to do was take pics of GZ as we entered and left states.. we were on a very tight schedule and that got even tighter when Cody had the problems with his bike.  I would like a bit more time to enjoy the journey this time.. and not be focused on a time to arrive at a destination.

Looks like the hand off to AR/MO will be about a week late in MS.  Spanner is talking May 12 for the hand off in Batesville MS.  I would then head north/northwest through AR into MO and ride along the south section of MO so we can be sure to catch MO .. then i would head back into AR and then over into OK and maybe TaxiScooter could meet me at the fuel stop near the Muskogee turnpike for the OK to Kansas section.. I still don't want to do my section as a catch up link because everything is behind.. I did that last year and it wasn't as much fun as some of the other relay riders had.  I should be able to shave a few days off the behind schedule though.  like instead of an entire week to get GZ to OK maybe 3 or 4 days

Based on the map here:

I think we have to get TX, LA, MS, AL, then it goes to GA.
It looks to me like the plan is to go through part of Oklahoma on the way back west after Tennessee.

Who is meeting Cody from the west?

Cody, where are you picking up GZ?

Coke  i'm real flexible on how we can do this. Mebbe I could meet you up in Branson for the missouri leg. Then we could drop back down thru eureka and then head thru okla toward kansas. Where is the handoff for Kansas? Any combo is ok with me as long as I can arrange for time off.

No problem. I'll see you in Lafayette on Sunday April 15th at the Boudin and Cracklin Diner. We'll nail down approximate meeting time as we get a bit closer. Feel free to pm me to discuss further.
