« on: May 29, 2006, 04:32:55 AM »
I HAVE HAVE A 1971 CB750 K1 FRAME AND ENGINE , THAT WERE FOUND IN A BARN. THE FRAME HAS BEEN BLASTED TO SEE IF ANY PROBLEMS SHOWED. THE CENTRE STAND TUBE HAS TO BE REPAIRED , BUT EVERY THING ELSE SEEMS FINE. WHILST THE FRAME IS IN A BARE STATE CAN ANY ONE RECOMMEND ANY MODS OR BRACING . I HAVEN'T DECIDED ON A FINISH FOR THE BIKE, ORIGINAL, CAFE RACER ,TRACK BIKE ETC. BUT I WOULD HATE TO BUILD A BIKE , AND HAVE TO STRIP IT TO DO FRAME MODS.THE ENGINE WILL NOT REMAIN STOCK AND I FEEL MILD TWEAK IS IN ORDER, HENCE THE FRAME MODS. I AM COMPLETELY IN THE DARK ON THIS BIKE, SO ANY SUGGESTIONS ARE WELCOME. MANY THANKS, SLEAFORD.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE turn the caplock off! Mods are all in eye of the builder

Start looking around to see what style of bikes you like, then build yours towards that goal.

Yeah, what ProTeal said. 1st things 1st. Check out the different styles of bike. There's no way to
know what needs to be done to your frame until you make a decision. I prefer something along the
line of the cafe style myself (like dgfischer said) but, the bike is yours and so is the decision. The guys
on this site have some fine examples of all styles, check em out.

CAPS LOCK OFF ! Many thanks for the comments, even those about my lack of typing skills. Having viewed the members gallery and various other sites it was even harder to decide. Track bike-Dick Mann replica, great idea nmbloke. Cafe racer. Custom. Long and low. Restore. Even a hill climber !I thought they were all great. In the end i decided what do i want the bike for ? I want to wheel it out of the garage on dry ( not many of these in England) days and enjoy some of the twisty roads around here with a "just" little more enthusiasm than usual. Handling is top of my list for this bike. Cafe racer it is then with a subtle hint of modern technology. I will keep you up to date. Many thanks.
