Topic: Tachometer cable oil seal.. picture?

I searched and found many threads about putting them in and getting them out, and to use a dohc one instead of a sohc one, but I cannot find a real picture of it.

The reason I ask is because I have an engine gasket set, and I'm sure I have the seal, but I'd like to know what it looks like, so I can pick it out of the plethora of gaskets I have. Or even the dimensions would be great. Just something to identify it. I don't want to take my seal out and find that I don't have it, because my bike is my DD.

I have never heard of using a dohc tach seal. I replaced mine with a standard seal and it does not leak a single bit.
Pull out your tach cable and look in the hole. If it is silver like the engine, you have no seal. If it is black, you have a seal, unless you have a black engine.
Just fyi, if you did not have a seal, you would have a good stream of oil going down the front of your motor.

Well, I checked BB earlier..



#30 is a 7mm thrust washer (wtf is that?)
#40 is .. Oh. an 11x2.5 gasket. I guess they do have the dimensions there.
#35 is "oil seal." Ah, that's what I couldn't find the dimensions for. But I guess it should be pretty similar in size to #40.

Yes, it looks like that on one side. On the other, there is a groove. I think the groove side goes towards the oil. The top in your picture goes toward the outside.
