First rebuild - 75' CB750
« on: February 16, 2012, 10:25:05 AM »
I am new to these forums, so hopefully this posts correctly with the pics.  After reading a few rebuild threads and a few times through my manual, I am ready to tackle my first rebuild.  I bought the bike as seen in the first pic.  I have spent some time stripping the frame and collecting come parts, planning, etc and the bike is now as you see in the second pic.  I was holding off on the engine until I read through some threads to build confidence.  I thought the upcoming 3-day weekend would be a good time to begin tearing it down.  Over the next couple of days, I am going to cleaning up my workspace and getting some prep done.

That said, any input on must-have and good-to-have tools, solvents, other chemicals, etc. to get the job done properly as well as any other helpful advice would be very much appreciated.  I will post many pics along the way so please let me know if any of you notice anything of concern.  Thanks in advance!

So the original pic I have of the bike is too large, I will retake and repost this evening.

Lucky- No idea, the PO didn't give know either.  Said he didn't have it long.  Got it from some guy in Wyoming.  It came with big brackets for the engine mounts and brake pivot that I removed along with the old kickstand mount and drum brake rod bracket.  The frame has a serial number stamped near the neck but no other identifying info.  I will post more pics later, apparently the ones I took with my phone are too large.

CR - thanks for the welcome and no I have not, but I will now.  Thanks for the link!

Yeah, post some pix over there. I'll be someone there can identify your frame.

Okay, so I figured out how to post large pics and here is the bike as I originally purchased is.  Decent find for $500 I think.

Did not get started tearing down the motor last night since I didn't really have a good work bench so about $50 at Home Depot and a few hours in the shop, I now have a bench worthy of the task.
