See I live in northern IL, close to HDland (WI). I work in WI and I see every day the smug looking #$%* stains on there #$%*ty bike, act like gods gift to the word. Still bitter about old man HONDA saving HD ass years ago I would guess.

I've never had any probs with Harley riders through the years.

Me neither. They do their thing, I do mine. I just don't like this whole 'gotta ride side by side' thing that they do. But it doesn't affect me, so what the hey.

If it hadn't been for Honda providing competition to HD they (HD) wouldn't have had the leverage with the government to put the (tax) screws to the Japanese on any bikes over 750, thereby easing the 'competition' in the mid '80s. Of course HD didn't understand the wily Japanese, who just turned around and made all of their current bikes of the time into 700's!

Avarice and intelligence aren't necessarily conjoined personality traits in the estrogen-based units...despite the sometimes seemingly overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

Also for a multitude of reasons people feel more isolated, insignificant and therefore insecure today than ever before and so by buying a status symbol motorcycle and becoming part of "the gang" they get some amount of sustinance for their fragile egos.

Interesting post. So, do you mean that if a bunch of us all splurged on sandcast 750's and decided to go out for a ride together we would be falling prey to the 'fragile ego' scenario? Or does this only apply to Harley riders?
