Question about, APE heavy duty cylinder studs.
« on: March 14, 2019, 01:33:28 PM »
I havent recived them yet, but on order. Im taking the head to machine shop tomorrow.
My question is, are the holes in the head that feed oil to the cam towers large enough as is, or are they supposed to be opened up? K0 style head, holes just look small for the full size 8mm stud and oil to still pass through well enough.
Thanks

There's full oil pressure there and not much is really passed through the restriction orifice thingies. The studs need some clearance to the holes but not much. I have only installed APE studs once - not on a K0 - and didn't open up the bores.

Just install them and at the same height of the original ones. They may not bottom out and that's ok. Use some thread locker. They will fit just fine.
