prices finally dropping?
« on: February 21, 2012, 11:09:27 PM »
Is it just me, or are CB prices starting to drop on eBay?  I've noticed much lower sales prices and slower bidding recently.  I've also seen the classics sitting idle on craigslist much more now with repeat postings going for weeks and month.

Noticed the same thing on this side of the country.  Wondering if it was seasonal, though...

The ones sitting on ebay or CL for extended periods of time are those which think they can get 7600 for a k6.. That listing, a potential buyer even quetioned the seller as why he had the minimum bid so high...... One that is far from mint can still get high prices. I always like to hear the individuals who have dealt with CB's for years to chime in. They are your best best to this matter. ...... The rush will begin in April once again.

I was kind of thinking the opposite.  Out of sheer morbid curiosity, I looked at the 350Fs on ebay and found this one:  http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1973-Honda-CB350F-CB-350-Four-/300659139746?pt=US_motorcycles&hash=item4600ae64a2  No side covers, no headlight, broken turn signal, and not running among other cosmetic issues:  $1000...   ???  Admittedly a small sample size but every time I see that I immediately think my 350Fs are worth double what they really are..

Maybe it's because the show "Cafe Racer" has gone into re-runs.  ;D

Heh, I stopped watching after they cut up that K0.  The whole show was too choppy for me.  Not enough meat.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

you should.
bought mine for $1k, sold it for $2500.  barely made up what i put into it.  i probably should have asked more, but i didnt want to be THAT guy.  it was worth every penny to the guy who put the cash into my hand.

I cant say that i'm seeing CB's for less $$$ here in the PNW, but there sure are fewer this time of year.

Hmm, maybe it is just the calm before the April buying storm.

It must be seasonal, or people selling things to pay taxes. I see WAY too many guys putting clubmans and a seat on a bike, calling it a "Cafe" and trying to charge 4 to 5 grand. Ridiculous. If they are original and in good condition, its a sin to rattle can them and chop them for the sake of pop culture trends. That's what parts bikes are for.
Not putting miles on your bike is like not having sex with your Girl Friend so she'll be more desirable to her next Boy Friend.
