750 hard tail
« on: February 22, 2012, 10:07:45 AM »
Ok here is some info on the bike in my profile picture.  Hard tail frame made from scratch by me, bonus points if you can guess where the frame design idea came from.  CBR900RR rear wheel and brake setup.  Front end came off of a 1980 CB750, I like the front brake setup better than the older 750's and its about an 1" longer.  It started with an old 836 I built 10yrs ago but have a new 836 in progress.  I was running a jack shaft to clear the 180 rear tire but I am building an offset sprocket setup that has an outboard bearing support so I can get rid of the jack shaft.

Some of the parts going into the new motor.  Ape crank, head studs and 836 pistons and undercut trans.  Cycle X super rods and cam chain tensioner.  Head and block machined for MLS head gasket.  Ports cleaned up and bowl work, chambers cc'ed and some work done to unshroud the valves a bit.  Need to save up to have a head done by a professional but the cash isn't available for that right now.

It's a nice WWC Dominator replica. I really like the over all look of it, nice chop man.

Looks good!
I think a spring seat would be much more comfortable though.
The exhaust looks like a good design also.

It does have a covered seat now.  Didn't have the money for the seat right away and I wanted to see what it was going to ride like.  Yes it was a Dominator influenced design, I always loved the look of that frame.
