Clutch friction soak time Q's
« on: February 24, 2012, 02:58:20 PM »
So I removed my clutch today, drilled and grooved the oil holes per hondaman. The bike is a 750k4, I purchased a APE  friction clutch kit. Stock was 6 steels and 7 frictions, went to 8 steels and 9 frictions whit heavy duty springs. The OEM stack of steels and frictions measured out @ 37.05mm and the new stack with 9 frictions measures 38.48mm. I will not be riding this bike for at least 2 months. So my question is should I soak the frictions for 24hrs in oil and install them on the bike, knowing it wont be run for 2 months? Or should I wait until it is closer to "run" time? My thought is that the added tension on the frictions will squeeze out the oil before I actually start the thing in 2 months. I love to start and finish a project before I start another. What do you think am I being a worry wart if I wait? Or should i just slap it together and move on?

if you want to finish it, soak your plates then install them, when you park the bike up just tie the clutch lever back to the handle bars.

The engine is on the bench but a nice thought.
