Cafe fairing or small windshield 400 F
« on: February 17, 2012, 05:56:26 PM »
Hi

Any idea where I could find a cool nice small cafe type fairing for my 1976 400 F?  Or, if not, any small windshield?

Thanks

Guy

I fitted one of the Puig fly screens to my commuter 400f a few months ago. It doesn't make much difference at all at low or moderate speeds but it does make life a bit more comfortable above 70mph.

Surprisingly, it has actually improved the fuel consumption, I now get an extra 5 or so miles per tank, or to put it another way I use half a litre less every 120 miles, that's 70p / $1usd saved on every tankful so the screen will have paid for itself pretty soon!

I think this is the type I have:

Ive got a triumph flyscreen on my 77 750k, easy to mount up and works well. Airtech has a copy of it or you can find stuff on eBay as well

I appreciate your help, now I can properly name what I'm looking for, i.e. a 'flyscreen'.

Idealy I would like a flyscreen of the fiberglass type, one that looks like the one's on old Triumps (one that surrounds the headlight), but I could also manage with just a plexiglass tinted flyscreen thats goes above the headlamp.

In 1980 I bought a Vetter fearing for my Honda CB 750 K, man where they heavy!

Part # TB85T on the air tech fairing is exactly what I have, although it's a real triumph one I got off eBay real cheap. From the dealer they are just over $300, which is crazy for a plastic screen. It came with a bunch of mounting hardware and bushings. Was pretty easy to install, It mounts on two tabs I made that bolt to the headlight bucket bolt holes and the top trim ring screws. It really takes the wi d off your chest on the highway, huge improvement in that area. Message me your email and I can send you some pics showing how it's mounted if you want, I haven't tried to post pics on here but can email them easily.

Those are going for double what I paid for mine a couple years ago.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.
