There is an Aussie Drag Racer (probably retired now) by the name of "Pommy" Peter Allen, who ran a reversed cylinder/head Kawa based drag bike back in the late 1970's, it was a real beast and capable of 7 second 1/4 mile times. I'm trying to find a pic, but so far, no luck.

I've also seen some neat two stroke racers from the 50's and 60's with reversed cylinder/heads, so maybe it's not too common, but it's certainly a reality. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Hey Terry, if you have any old issues of "Two Wheels" I remember reading an article on "Pommy Pete" in the early seventies.

If I remember rightly he had a drag racer powered by FOUR Triumph 650 motors, the rear barrels on both sets being reversed so one bank of carbies fed four cylinders.

 IS THIS TRIP REALLY NECESSARY?

No Bill, it absolutely isn't needed, nor is it wanted.

SiliconDoc, please find a message in your personal mailbox. >:(

Back to the subject at hand, I have had a couple of e-mails passed back and forth between Tom Summers and myself and his information is wonderful. Check out this Triumph he built: http://www.lowridersbysummers.com/Media/Sept1978CustomBike.htm

Now, if that don't get yer motor runnin, I don't know what will. ;D ;D

I have decided, considering all the feedback, that over the upcoming months, I will see what I can do to make this idea a reality. I am defititely not rich, so it'll be a very slow process on an as I get money to burn basis. I'll keep things updated in my gallery to show what I've accomplished at a given time.

Now, if I can get you guys to wish me luck...................................................................

Speaking for myself only, this sort of engine mod is w-a-y beyond my abilities and knowledge. However, I have been following the discussion with interest. Always ready to learn something new before the gray matter deteriorates to mush.  ;D

We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

Good luck mate, there must be plenty of donor engines out there, and don't listen to the "Doc", he certainly hasn't convinced me that he knows what he's talking about, and I think we're all getting a little tired of his long-winded pointless posts. Keep at it mate and post as many pics as you can! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Hey Sammy, do you reckon he migrated to Oz because the competition in Pommy Land was too high, or like Brayn suggested, was he worried about rain getting in his carbs, ha ha! ;D

The Kawasaki belonged to John Hoskins and ran 7.14 with Pete on board in 1988.

The reverse cylinder two strokes you mentioned Tell would have been MZs or EMCs but they had rotary valve induction, the carb being on the side of the motor pointing outwards, not forward as Jeff was meaning.

It seems strange having a sensible chat to you ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D it's usualy sheep shaggin or slagin off the old Queen, God bless her. ;D

Sam.

Farking hell Sammy, I know the difference between a rotary valve two stroke and a piston port engine mate, but I really have seen two strokes with carbs facing forward as well?

I've also seen modified RD's and TZ's in Pommy magazines set up like that for drag racing too. (sprints?) How did sheep get back into this anyway? With all the beautiful babes we've got here in Oz, we leave the sheep shagging (inherited from you blokes) to our poorer cousins in "Un Zud", ha ha! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Overdramatisation is truly an art form. My so called Nasty Little PM was an effort on my part to keep things out of the public eye. Yes, I admit in front of everyone here, my first PM to SiliconDoc was full of Vitriol and Loathing. The second, in response to his reply was an effort to get him to use tools found here to blunt the sharpness of his words as they are keenly edged indeed.

Well, thats a shame that you deleted it. It was mostly me showing you some compassion and letting you know that there are smileys and other ways to express humour and sarcasm that are difficult to express on these hastily written threads. I firmly believe in forgive and forget, though there are also times for intervension. This was one of those times. Don't get me wrong, I am not mad, just disappointed. I save my outgoing so I can resend it to you though I doubt that will be requested.

I am sorry for my part in this and will do what I can to rectify that wrong, I hope you will take my grain of salt and tone down a bit or use smileys, whatever.

Good night, and good luck.
