As I was replacing the chain today I was remembering it was a slight pain to get the chain on to the drive sprocket because my abnormally large hands. So what I did is undue the old chain but leave it on and put the new chain on the old chain with the old link. I did not put the backer on just the clip. Then proceded to just pull the new chain through with the old chain. So much easier! on a side note I would recommend when you replace the chain also replace the sprockets.
