CB750 dual sport
« on: February 23, 2012, 11:34:47 AM »
Anyone have pics of a 750 farkled for dual sport?  for inspiration, I suppose.

I bought a $200 "farm bike"  to ride mostly on country/gravel roads,  some dirt trails,  but  no serious off roading.
D/S tires, maybe longer shocks and forks are in order, anyone done this ? ?

The bike has a strong motor, good carbs, but about everything else was beat to hell.

As a styling effort it would be interesting but as a 500 pound trail bike ... not for me.

Doesn't deter the BMW GS crowd that's for sure.

Seems perfectly doable to me. If BMW and Yamaha can produce 1200cc dual sport monsters I don't see why you couldn't fab up one from a CB750. However, that's not to say it would be cheap or easy.

I think a 750 with some scrambler type exhausts and some knobby tires would look cool. Go for it!

I will first try Shinko 705s;   they  are 80/20 street/trail.

yea, if the GS monsters can dual sport,  that's gave me the idea for the 750 instead of buying a dirt bike.

Building a CB750 engine in a motocross style frame for instance is nothing new. Bought some nice extra stock parts off a guy here in town that was doing a 72 750 with Kawasaki moto forks and swingarm etc..His project has stopped and hopefully I can grab up what he has done and finish it up. He was building a hillclimber and it looked pretty cool the last time I saw it.

Hey Eric,

If you really wana make a hill climber out of it, put in a Big Baang cam!

Will you show me all of them?
Sure.

Stcok CB750 handles fine on dirt roads - now have K761 tires on there (10% off road tire) -lower center of gravity than my VStrom

Neat thing about the Goldwing boxer engine is that you don't need a special cam to make it a Big Bang.  Just turn one of the cam shafts 180* from stock and the cylinders that fire off the same coil will fire at the SAME time!  So instead of a nice, smooth bang-bang-bang-bang-bang-bang, you get BANG-BANG-BANG-grip-grip-grip.  Some say ideal for hill climb where you want tire bite in addition to the power.  Guaranteed to void your warranty!!
