Another new toy (I did it again)
« on: January 05, 2012, 10:29:59 AM »
Well, after I promised my poor wife that I would scale down the stable I failed again.  ;)
I found this mint condition 1983 CB1100F, one owner, 21k original miles.
Can't wait to clean the carbs this weekend. :D

Nice. Why would you ever promise to scale down the stable?!  Is she getting rid of shoes and purses??

Nice, they are getting more collectible. I bought a 12,000 mile CB900F this past spring and its a pretty fun ride, quite a bit faster than the SOHC 750'S and actually has some suspension. My Son is trying to take it over and he does looks good on it. Would much prefer though to get my grimey paws on one of those 1100's . How may you got in the stable ??  Enjoy----    Eric

Good score! That looks nice. Too bad it was repainted.

Tell me about it!  ;D
My friends call the bike "bread pudding". In the picture doesn't show much but the color is a hideous beige with orange and brown pinstriping.  ???
The PO told me that when he was buying the bike back in 83; his wife didn't like the original color. So he asked: "what color do you like, honey?" and she said "beige". So a brand new bike left the dealer looking like somebody puked bread pudding all over it.  ;D
Right now I'm not going to go full original but rather the Freddie Spencer replica way. Silver Honda with blue badges. Later this year I may decide if like the red or the blue original livery better and get a proper  showroom quality paint job. I think the bike deserves it.

My painter is almost done with the restoration.  ;D
We couldn't find the original blue paint so we matched it as close as possible. As soon as I can put it back together i"ll post more pics. So far I'm a happy puppy.

And a crappy picture of the finished product; taken with my cell phone. The blue looks a lot deeper in person.
Now I need to take care of the exhausts an that's that.  :D

Bwaaaahahaha. Tell me about it. :-)
I lost count of how many times I've walked into the garage just to stare at the finished product. :-)
Thanks everybody for the compliments, and if you need a good painter on the Miami area I can highly recommend this guy. He really has an eye for details.
