Congratulations go to Tintop for receiving the prestigious award for technical excellence at our VRRA awards banquet last night. Every year this goes to the club member who has turned the heads of the tech committee by building a machine worthy of the prize.

Thanks Brent, I was surprised to hear my name, but also pleased that my work had been appreciated. According the Pres. it's the 1st time a sidecar has ever won the award.

Can't rest on my new found laurels though.

The first of the upgrade parts for next season came in, new filter & stacks from sponsor ITG.

Also a new cam with .420 lift, vs the old ones .383.

Just got back from the Toronto Motorcycle show. Lots of nice bikes to see but didn't got enough time to take many pictures. All the new stuff is on the web anyway. Well maybe not the Ducati girls.

The club couldn't afford them bw, they were the veeerrry high maintenance type.

The filter is from my sponsor ITG, it's a custom one-off for the sidecar 754. They also supplied the pair of alloy 40DCOE stacks lurking inside. It uses the same oiled filter material they use for their F1 filters & my SOHC filters. That said, it's based on their single Weber filter. The Canadian ITG distributor Jon Nichols Motorsport (also a sponsor) - http://www.jonnichols.com/ would stock the normal one. However, he doesn't carry the one I supply for the SOHC's.

There's more of the Aeroquip/braided stuff coming out of the fuel tank, and I used their fittings on the alloy fuel hard line as well. The SS hard brake line, SS braided brake line (coated & un-coated), and bias adjuster all came from a dirt track Super Modified catalogue.

They would do the trick, been running open Webbers a long time. I still have my bugeyes but the filters were crumbling away, and I do not trust them. On the stock frame the clearance is pretty tight, but would not matter wuth that syle.. Thanks

The ITG Weber filter is available in different heights. The one on the sidecar is 100mm. For an SOHC you'd probably want about half that to get it to fit.

Thanks Sam. Certainly did attract attention, and keeping the rugrats off was an ongoing job. Lots of size 2 shoe prints.

Not sure how many photos were actually taken of it, but the guesstimate was 1500 to 2000.

I'll do an image search in a week.

Well I've moved, and sort of settled in. Thought it was time to bring this thread back to life, as the next race season is fast approaching.

The sidecar(s), and bikes have a new home. Basically a 20 x 25 garage, which is slowly becoming a workshop. First test and tune weekend is May 4/5. Get to play with the big boys, F1 & F2 sidecars.

Engine is out, and top end will be getting a refurbished. New cam going in, basically a version of a mild race XS Webcam. New set of springs going in, as I went pass 8K+ a few times to many last season.

The rockers and shafts go out early next week to Ken @ Cycle X, for coating. Might send the cam as well. I'll pull the head to check the bores. Crank was welded so it's good for another season. Also ordered new Dunlops, including one for the new spare 48 spoke rim I P'd/U. Means I'll have a fresh one for the rear at Mosport.

Frame needs a cleaning and going over for cracks. Hoping to get everything back together by late April so I can get it to a dyno before the test day.

I'll post some pictures shortly.

I thought about going there BW, but getting to do the SMP R.A.C.E. Test & Tune with the SRA guys for two days was to good a deal. Don't need to stay at the track, home is just 40 minutes away. Run the Fabi Saturday (good for getting some Long Track setup info), and then the Nelson on Sunday. Sunday will give us notes for July's VRRA race.

With the move and such, the race budget for this year is going to keep us close to home. There's lots of space left on the dustbin for a major sponsor though. Matching suits & helmets would be nice, oh yeah and $$$.

Have you been following the thread on VRRA about a bunch going to Phillip Island next year?? Sounds like lots of $'s, but would be a life time memory.
