New Clutch Cover Bolts
« on: February 27, 2012, 06:03:42 AM »
74 550.  I am wanting to replace the stock screws with hex bolts for the clutch cover.  I have a new gasket but the screws will not stay tight and have been off and on so much that they are getting stripped.  Makes my baby bleed on the floor.

Anyone know a vendor?

Are you sure the holes are good. They usually get stripped before the bolt. I would clean up the hole before putting in the new bolts.
What about allens? There are lots of places that sell complete allen kits for our bikes

You mean METRIC Allen SCREWS.
You call them bolts when they are larger than 1/4 inch diameter.

Negatory, you call them bolts when they use a nut instead of a threaded hole ;)
Engineers like to solve problems. If there are no problems handily available, they will create their own problems.
