17T sprocket for 750K?
« on: June 01, 2006, 03:38:48 PM »
I'm going to get a new chain for my bike and it looks like my rear sprocket is probably due... so the drive sprocket is most definitely due.  Now I've read that the 750K2 had a 17T sprocket as opposed to the 18T on all the later models.  The little bit of extra jump that the 17T drive offers appeals to me, but when I looked for the 17T drive on the microfiches, it said the K2 had an 18T.

Where do I get a 17T sprocket from then?  Also, our bikes take 530 series chain, right?

Correction... the K1 is supposed to have a 17T drive sprocket according to the HondaMan FAQ (just found where I had read it).  But the microfiche for the K1 still says 18T.  I guess honda eliminated the other ratios in favour of the 18T/48T of the later K's.

thanks.  I just called honda and they told me they don't actually stock sprockets.  They actually order them from JT sprocket.  I was hoping I could just go and pick them up.

Ok, next question.  How many links should my chain have for a 17T/48T?  It's probably close enough to the 18T/48T ratio that the req'd length will be the same, but I've seen two recommendations.... 100 links and 104 links.

I want to get a nickel plated, sealed chain.  Any good recommendations?

Both the K1 and K2 had 18T front sprockets with 48T rear.
The very early K (K0) had 16T then went to 17T (with a 45T rear).
The F/F1 used a 17T front and 48T rear as standard. They use the same mounting method as the K-K6
On my F1 I changed to a 18T for smoother cruising/highway riding.

I have used a 17 & 18T on my 75 750F. Comes with a 17. Not as much decreased rpm as I'd hoped for going to 18 so if you decrease to 17 you won't notice much more than increased acceleration which is a good thing. Use same chain length for both.
