I was at Harrys Machined Parts, Northboro, MA today getting my VStrom tuned - saw this photo of a CB750 drag racing back in the day.

What do you mean by raised ports?  what is the advantage of that?

Look at the down-hill angle of the carbs, Jag. The idea was to give the intake charge a straighter shot at the valve. Recent flow tests indicate it may have not been worth the trouble, but there may have been other benefits that might not show up on a flow test, that a dyno might reveal.

the TQ midget guys angle weld the intakes. It does work. They don't have a frame in the way and need the power to compete with modern 600 twin cam engines.

Looks like a Shelby rear wheel with the go-kart disk.........missing some frame geometry for easy head removal
